Rex's story...
Rex is a 6 year old black lab / sharpei mix that I am unable to keep. He is a very loving dog who loves to be the center of attention, but he suffers with separation anxiety.  Most of the time he behaves, but if alone while raining, he can be destructive and should be crated.  His vet is prescribing xanax to see if it will help in the rain.  We have been hoping he'd grow out of this destructive stage, but he hasn't.  He is up to date on all his shots and is on both heartworm  and flea prevention medicine.  He is neutered.  He has never been around cats, doesn't care much for other dogs, enjoys playing with kids, but because of his size should be watched with small children. My husband and I would love to see him in a good, loving home.  I can be reached by email julieprange@bellsouth.net or at home 504-394-6501,  or cell 504-813-6197

The shelter is open to the public from 3 - 7 pm seven days a week. Dog adoption fees are $150 per dog and cats are $75 to $100 per cat. These fees help us with cost of spay / neuter, shots, microchips, HW treatment if necessary, other medical expenses and food. 4. you meet your approved pet(s)
5. adoptors sign a contract stating that the animal wil be kept healthy through regular visits to your veterinarian, continue on heartworm & flea medication for the rest of the pet's life, and that if you ever have to surrender the pet they will only be returned to ARNO or their agent
6. contract also states that if you fail to comply with any or all of the contract ARNO has the right to take possession of the pet
