| Duke is a 9 years young purebred neutered Fox Red Labrador Retriever. Duke’s family has decided that a new home is the best for Duke - somewhere he can get the love and attention he so deserves. Before children, Duke and his doggie companion, Willow, were the “only” children. They were treated like babies and allowed inside and went everywhere with their owners. But, once it was discovered that the second child born in the family was severely allergic to Duke, he was relegated to living as an outside dog. He has been living outside for the past 5+ years. Until recently he had Willow as a companion, but sadly she passed away. Duke cries for her daily. He has never known a life without her. From day one, Duke was a fun loving, happy go-lucky kind of dog. It seems that even in his later years he has still retained these qualities. He is eager to please, and was quick to learn the few commands the family taught him. He loves being around people. He is well behaved, but gets excited easily. He is easygoing and good natured. He is housebroken and would love a person or family that is around most of the day. Or, another dog buddy. Duke is healthy, but he could use doggie weight watchers. With regular exercise he should “shed” the extra pounds. Duke is located in San Jose in a foster home who describe him as follows: Duke interacts well with the other 2 dogs in the house. He loves to be loved, if he could he would sit in your lap. Rides well in the car he likes to sit or lay where his nose sticks out the window. Sometimes when I get home from work Duke has to tell me what he did during the day – he likes to talk. Mr. Duke is a big teddy bear.
