We are getting Puglee's (Dazzle) skin issues sorted out, it turns out she is allergic, whether it's to food (She MUST be on a LIMITED INGREDIENT DIET, the best being Natural Balance Duck/potato or Venison/sweet potato) or environmental, they are treated the same (unless immunotherapy is employed). She's now taking ATOPICA (cyclosporin) to treat the allergies, and it can run up to $70/mo., although we are getting to the stage where she can have 1 pill every other day or so and that'll reduce that expense. She will need to continue on this medication and baths (with a special shampoo) 2x a month or so in her new home, and if necessary (and her new home can afford it), be allergy tested at some point to gain a better understanding of her allergy triggers and prevent them. Puglee should not have a lot of stairs as, while she gets around okay, her hips are arthritic, despite her young age. Puglee has many unnecessary health issues which could have been prevented by taking the utmost care in choosing breeding prospects. Proper breeding of pets is not frowned upon, but tossing two dogs together to have puppies with which to pay one's bills next month IS, and dogs like Puglee with her health problems drive home the tragedy that is irresponsible breeding! $300 donation requested for Puglee to help reimburse our costs in getting her healthy again. She will not be an inexpensive dog to own and we'd also like her potential adopter to keep this in mind as they make a decision to add her to their family! Updates as to her health will be mandatory in her new home, to ensure she's getting the correct care she requires. Puglee is guessed to be approximately 18mos. - 2yrs. of age. While she always looks forlorn in her photos, she's a happy girl who plays energetically with her 'pack mates' of foster dogs and our own personal dogs. Wrinkly foreheads make dogs look sad for some reason!
**All our foster dogs and puppies have been vaccinated with Galaxy DA2PPv at least ONE TIME. When appropriate and available, they get a rabies vaccination, and they have been dewormed at least once. They come with a health record that reflects this at the time of adoption. They are also Microchipped and come with a free month of health insurance.** If interested in adopting this pet please email us and request an application to complete and return via email. This does not obligate you in any way but it does allow us to gather the necessary information to determine if this dog is a good match for your family. No meet and greets take place without a completed/approved application. Important note: beginning in June of 2007, homes with children under 7 years of age will be required to enroll any puppies or adult dogs (at our discretion) adopted from us in puppy kindergarten and/or basic obedience classes. **We DO allow out of state adoptions, but we DO NOT ship our pets, all adopters are required to pick up their new family member HERE, within a week of your application being completed and being approved to adopt.** Please remember to visit your local city or county shelter, your dream dog could be there, waiting for his/her second chance! |
