Please contact the foster if you have any questions about this dog. Pokey is an English Lab which is more stocky and blocky built than the American Labs we generally see. He could be purebred but likely not.

Pokey would appreciate a fenced yard where he can lounge on nice days. He is a great indoor companion but he enjoys the outdoors as well and loves just watching over the neighborhood.

Pokey is very affectionate with his foster family, good with the elderly male Beagle.  But he tends to want to protect his family and family belongings. He is NOT a guard dog but very loyal. Not every family likes this trait but there is someone out there who would feel more comfortable having Pokey around.

We have taken Pokey to several outdoor music events, the pet store, as well as the vet and he acted like a well behaved normal lab.  However he will bark, growl, and act protective (okay act ugly) when strangers come to visit at home. 

 

He would do well in a home with his own children or active outdoorsy people as well as homebodies who just hang around home. He would enjoy walking, running or hiking. He is easy going, house trained, rides well and walks on leash very well. He is affectionate, loyal, trustworthy, playful with his own family..An awesome, boy!
