Henry's story...
Henry came to us from a kill shelter in West Virginia. He was very scared in the shelter and appeared not to like men. He was out of time so we decided to take him and work with him. When we first got him he did seem afraid and was very defensive. He would growl and not let anyone get close to him. He has settled down and is doing much better. I can now see that he wants to be loved and playful but he still just isn't sure about everything. I don't think anyone spent much time with him and when they did it wasn't a positive experience for him.

Henry is doing really well and seems to be adjusting very nicely. He is good with other dogs, but wouldn't be good with cats. He does need some work with walking on a leash still. He wants to zig zag around and smell everything. He really is turning into a great dog. However, given his background information he needs an experienced dog person who will continue to work with him and give him the guidance and love that he needs to be sure that people are not going to hurt him.

Henry still has trust issues. In his foster home he is a perfect, loving dog. Outside of the foster home and around a lot of activity he is nervous and that nervousness tends to cause him to growl at people as they approach. He will need more work on trusting and feeling comfortable in different situations. We will post more about him as we continue to work with him.
