Hi! My name is Freddy and I am a 4 year old English Bulldog! I was surrendered to rescue by my owners of 8 months (who loved me dearly), but didn't feel they were a very good fit for me. I heard them say I would do best in a house that has prior bully experience and no children... but I do like other dogs and get along with kitties! When the rescue lady asked my Dad what he wanted my new family to know, this is what he said...
He likes grass, he doesn't like walking on pavement or rocks. He loves to sleep in his little bed and suck on it when he feels like it. He peels out like a little race car. He prefers his hind-end rubbed over anything else. He is definitely is a lap-dog. I think he could eat 100 lbs. of food but we feed him sparingly. He loves carrots. And little stuffed animals. He is very vocal. Kinda whiny sometimes. Doesn't do well with overly excited environments. Loves going to Home-Depot to check out the women. They love him. Would rather live in a car or back seat of a truck over anything else. He loves camping, gets excited around quads and motorcycles. Major couch potato. Snuggly-bug, bed hog. A Manly mans dog I guess. Freddy had Entropian Surgery when he entered rescue and has been living the 'nothing in life is free' training method. Because he is such a 'bully' bully, we highly recommend continuing this program in his forever home, so please do your research and make sure this is the life for you as well!!! Freddy WANTS structure and consistency... without these two things he gets very lost and upset! Plan on Mr. Fred looking to you for all of his decision making... it makes his life easy and carefree! It allows him to be the silly bully that we have all come to adore here at Almost Home! He throws his toys and does 'bulldog burnouts' all over the backyard! He sits and waits his turn for treats and his dinner! He shows off his favorite trick- the 'high five'! He snuggles with his two bulldog pals and the fat cat in his foster home without incident. BUT, when structure and consistency go out the window... so does his carefree attitude :-( Freddy HATES making his own decisions... and to be quite honest, he isn't very good at it! He doesn't know if he should be the lead dog or the last dog, if he goes first or last, if he should be on the furniture or on the floor... these things sound so silly! But to Freddy the whole world is crumbling in chaos and it makes him upset and miserable.

Any other way we can meet one of your rescues? IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND AN EVENT, YOU WILL NEED TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION (FIRST STEP) AND RECEIVE A HOME VISIT (LAST STEP) - THERE ARE STEPS IN BETWEEN! ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS WILL BE ABLE TO MEET OUR RESCUES OUTSIDE OF ADOPTION EVENTS...WE CHOOSE NOT TO DISRUPT OUR FOSTER HOMES WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE 'JUST LOOKING'.
Why does it seem that most of your dogs are 'pending' or 'adopted'? By the time I see a rescue I'm interested in and start to fill out the application, they are no longer available! IF YOU HAVE YOUR HEART SET ON A SPECIFIC RESCUE, YOU MAY HAVE YOUR HEART BROKEN. OUR PROCESS IS QUICK, AND WE HAVE A GROWING WAITING LIST OF APPROVED APPLICANTS. THOSE ON THE WAITING LIST GET TO SEE OUR NEW RESCUES BEFORE WE POST THEM FOR ADOPTION AND START TO TAKE NEW APPLICATIONS.
Can I apply for a specific rescue? ABSOLUTELY! IT'S HARD NOT TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THE PICTURES OF OUR RESCUES, BUT IT'S IMPORTANT TO KEEP IN MIND THAT NOT ALL DOGS WILL MATCH ALL HOMES - JUST LIKE ALL HOMES WON'T MATCH ALL DOGS. THE FOSTER HOME KNOWS THEIR RESCUE BEST AND WHAT TYPE OF HOME WILL BEST SUIT THEIR FOSTER. IF YOU HAVE SPECIFICS ABOUT COLOR, AGE, ETC. WE SUGGEST THAT YOU START THE APPROVAL PROCESS SO WE CAN FIND YOUR PERFECT MATCH!

We are a private, volunteer, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We are dedicated to the rescue of unwanted, neglected, and abandoned pets. We specialize in boxers, but for the perfect home we can help you find the perfect pet, or point you to a rescue who can. We provide food, shelter, medical attention, and TLC during our rescues wait for the "RIGHT" forever home.
All of our dogs are in foster homes throughout the valley - we do not have a shelter that you can visit. Once you submit an application, your references are checked and the home visit is complete, we will contact you to set up a satisfactory meeting place for a get-together with your potential adoptive pet.
Our dogs are cared for in foster homes during this wait. We try to have them in a foster home environment for at least 2 weeks. They are temperament tested to the best of our ability to ensure a perfect match into their new home. Our number one concern is for the safety of the adoptive family and the happiness of the pet. We strive for a FOREVER placement - not all dogs are perfect for all families. We don't want to place "A" dog in your home - we want to place "THE" dog for your family!
We can't save every dog but we can make a difference...one dog at a time!

Our Adoption Process...
We prefer e-mail to cut down on cell phone minute usage! Once an application is submitted, it is reviewed, references are checked, and a home visit is done. If approved, we will contact you about the dog you are interested in. We want to place these dogs with the "RIGHT" families so it may take a bit to find that dog for you, please be patient.
