*** THANK YOU TO MARTHA WILLIAMS OF SUN CITY WEST FOR MAKING A DONATION TO JOSIE'S CARE! ***

Josie was an unclaimed stray from Maricopa County Animal Care and Control.  She was covered in road rash and unable to bear weight on her rear leg.  Her x-rays and bloodwork came back great.  She is also negative for tick fever and Valley Fever.  Dr. MacKenzie at Foothills Animal Hospital in Ahwatukee suspects hit by car and is providing super care of Josie!

She's a happy girl, around 1YO, that will need an experienced owner that won't let her get 'her way'.  She's crafty and it's hard to say no to those pretty eyes!!

DOGS:  I love to wrestle and romp with other dogs.  But like a typical female boxer, I am dominant.  I would do best in a home with med/larger male dogs.
CATS:  Sometimes I ignore them and other times I find them fascinating!  I can be WAY too much for most kitties....and would do best in a home without felines.
KIDS:  I love all humans but small kids will be too much for me.  Due to my dominant behavior, I might boss little kids around.  Kids 7 and up would be great!
HOUSETRAINED:  So far so good!  But being a pup, my priority is playing when outside.  I will need a refresher when I go to my new home to understand the routine and when and where I can go!
OBEDIENCE TRAINING:  I know how to sit but I am a hyper pup and will DEFINITELY will need an obedience class.  I'm food motivated and so eager to please!
CRATE SKILLS:  I can do that!
LEASH SKILLS:  I am very responsive on a halti/gentle leader.
DROOL FACTOR:  Low...who needs a puddle around them at all times??
PERKS & QUIRKS:  I can be possessive of my toys and my food...not with people but with other dogs.  With trust and time, this can subside....but I should be monitored with other dogs where toys and food are concerned.
HEALTH STATUS:  I came to Almost Home with 2 banged up knees, load of road rash on my body and my 'top knot' split open.  My vet stitched my head and waited to see how my legs would heal.  One of my kneecaps is not where it should be and surgery was scheduled.  After weeks of recoup and going through kennel cough, I was dropped off for my surgery.  The vet was so impressed with the healing of my knee that he deemed that surgery wouldn't give me any more range of motion than what I currently have!  My scars may not completely go away, but my limp is all but gone!

FAQ's:

Where is your facility? Can we come see your dogs? WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER OR BOARDING FACILITY. ALL OF OUR RESCUES ARE IN PRIVATE HOMES AROUND THE VALLEY. WE INVITE YOU TO ATTEND ONE OF OUR MONTHLY ADOPTION EVENTS IF YOU'D LIKE TO MEET SOME OF OUR RESCUES BEFORE APPLYING TO ADOPT.

Do you adopt out of the state of AZ? ABSOLUTELY! BUT ONE OF OUR REQUIREMENTS IS A HOME VISIT AND WE MAY NOT HAVE A VOLUNTEER IN YOUR STATE. PLEASE VISIT WWW.BOXERMAP.COM TO APPLY WITH A BOXER RESCUE IN YOUR AREA! ONCE APPROVED, IF THEY DON'T HAVE A MATCH FOR YOU, ASK THEM TO CONTACT US AND WE CAN SEE IF THERE MIGHT BE A MATCH TO ONE OF OUR RESCUES!

When/where can we meet your rescues? WE HAVE ADOPTION EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WHERE YOU CAN MEET THE RESCUES PRIOR TO FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION. SEE THE *EVENTS* SECTION OF OUR WEBSITE TO SEE WHERE WE WILL BE!

Any other way we can meet one of your rescues? IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND AN EVENT, YOU WILL NEED TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION (FIRST STEP) AND RECEIVE A HOME VISIT (LAST STEP) - THERE ARE STEPS IN BETWEEN! ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS WILL BE ABLE TO MEET OUR RESCUES OUTSIDE OF ADOPTION EVENTS...WE CHOOSE NOT TO DISRUPT OUR FOSTER HOMES WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE 'JUST LOOKING'.

Why does it seem that most of your dogs are 'pending' or 'adopted'? By the time I see a rescue I'm interested in and start to fill out the application, they are no longer available! IF YOU HAVE YOUR HEART SET ON A SPECIFIC RESCUE, YOU MAY HAVE YOUR HEART BROKEN. OUR PROCESS IS QUICK, AND WE HAVE A GROWING WAITING LIST OF APPROVED APPLICANTS. THOSE ON THE WAITING LIST GET TO SEE OUR NEW RESCUES BEFORE WE POST THEM FOR ADOPTION AND START TO TAKE NEW APPLICATIONS.

Can I apply for a specific rescue? ABSOLUTELY! IT'S HARD NOT TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THE PICTURES OF OUR RESCUES, BUT IT'S IMPORTANT TO KEEP IN MIND THAT NOT ALL DOGS WILL MATCH ALL HOMES - JUST LIKE ALL HOMES WON'T MATCH ALL DOGS. THE FOSTER HOME KNOWS THEIR RESCUE BEST AND WHAT TYPE OF HOME WILL BEST SUIT THEIR FOSTER. IF YOU HAVE SPECIFICS ABOUT COLOR, AGE, ETC. WE SUGGEST THAT YOU START THE APPROVAL PROCESS SO WE CAN FIND YOUR PERFECT MATCH!

About Our Rescue Group...
We are a private, volunteer, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We are dedicated to the rescue of unwanted, neglected, and abandoned pets. We specialize in boxers, but for the perfect home we can help you find the perfect pet, or point you to a rescue who can. We provide food, shelter, medical attention, and TLC during our rescues wait for the "RIGHT" forever home.

All of our dogs are in foster homes throughout the valley - we do not have a shelter that you can visit. Once you submit an application, your references are checked and the home visit is complete, we will contact you to set up a satisfactory meeting place for a get-together with your potential adoptive pet.

Our dogs are cared for in foster homes during this wait. We try to have them in a foster home environment for at least 2 weeks. They are temperament tested to the best of our ability to ensure a perfect match into their new home. Our number one concern is for the safety of the adoptive family and the happiness of the pet. We strive for a FOREVER placement - not all dogs are perfect for all families. We don't want to place "A" dog in your home - we want to place "THE" dog for your family!

We can't save every dog but we can make a difference...one dog at a time!

We are desperately seeking foster homes for our wonderful dogs! We also accept used crates or donations of any kind!

Come Meet Our Pets...
Please contact us about a specific pet - we do not have a shelter facility. All pets are in foster homes around the state of Arizona.
Our Adoption Process...
We prefer e-mail to cut down on cell phone minute usage! Once an application is submitted, it is reviewed, references are checked, and a home visit is done. If approved, we will contact you about the dog you are interested in. We want to place these dogs with the "RIGHT" families so it may take a bit to find that dog for you, please be patient.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We adopt within the state of Arizona or surrounding areas where there is no active boxer rescue.
