Hendrix is a miniature poodle rescued from a shelter where he had been taken as a stray. His coat was in such horrible condition that he had to be shaved completely, but he will be a beautiful little boy when it grows back in. It’s hard to tell with so little hair, but the groomer thinks his color will be brindle, which is unusual. The vet estimates that Hendrix is 2 years old (D.O.B. 9-1-07), so he has reached his full adult size at 11 pounds. Hendrix has been neutered, brought up to date on his immunizations, tested negative for heartworms and started on preventative. He is a friendly little guy who gets along well with the other small dogs in his foster home. He will need somebody to work with him on his housetraining, but like all poodles, Hendrix is an extremely intelligent little dog and will respond well to training. He will not be placed in a home with children under the age of 8 or with a dog weighing more than 30 pounds. His adoption donation is $150, and he is being fostered in Crossville, Alabama. We do approve out of state adoptions, but the adopter must be willing to drive to the foster home to “fetch” the new family member. We do not ship or transport our dogs. If you are interested in adopting this sweet baby, please email us at info@littlebitsrescue.org or fill out an APPLICATION.
Our mission is to rescue toy breed dogs (purebred and mixed) from local shelters or from owners wishing to surrender dogs. We provide all necessary vet care, including spay/neuter and vaccinations. We then place the dogs in new homes after an extensive screening process.
We do not have a shelter. All our dogs are housed in our personal homes. For this reason, we do not arrange meetings until we have received a completed application.
Our Adoption Process...
The first step in our adoption process is an application. We also do reference checks, a personal phone interview with the applicant, and a home visit. Our adoptions require a legally binding contract. Our fees vary from dog to dog, but the average is $200.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We are based in Birmingham, Alabama, and we also have a foster home in the Huntsville, Alabama area. We do approve out of area adoptions if the adopter is willing to drive to the foster home to "fetch" the new baby.
