Super Sammy's story...
"Super" was picked up several times by our local police department for running at large. His original owners decided that living in town was not the right place for him as they were unable to contain him and surrendered him to our shelter. He is a nice dog but loves to be out of his kennel. It doesn't matter to him if he's laying in the hallway or running in the back fence he just doesn't care to be behind the chain link cage. He was recently adopted by a very nice man who was excited to take "Super" hunting with him. He changed his name and began calling him "Sammy". He responded well to his new name and was very well behaved for his new owner. After being at his new home for about two weeks they went out to shoot the gun and discovered that "Super-Sammy" is gun shy. They have returned him and he is once again waiting for his forever family.

About Our Shelter...
Our mission is to humanely care for homeless pets, return them to their current owners, or adopt them to new loving homes. We will educate the public about responsible pet ownership & the importance of spaying & neutering their pets.
Marion County Humane Society was founded in November 1986 operating out of the former city dog pound. Through the years they have returned lost pets to their owners, educated the public of the importance of spaying & neutering , & seen a major decline in the number of abandoned pets. The volunteers have placed over 5000 unwanted dogs & cats. In October 2000 the volunteers made a decision to close the MCHS. The facility had detireoted beyond repair. In June 2008 after raising over $230,000 the MCHS opened the doors of their new facility.
