*** MITCH (WITH TAIL) CAN BE SEEN IN VIDEO WITH ONE OF HIS FOSTER SIBS EDIE (NO TAIL)! ***
Mitch is a classic fawn, guessed at about 2YO. He was a stray from Maricopa County Animal Care & Control. Mitch is a big boy with happy disposition. He's a dream on a leash and likes to hold his NATURAL tail high! He's quiet unless at play and loves to wrestle with his foster siblings.
Mitch doesn't like to have his feet touched nor does he like his collar tugged. We are working with this and he has improved....but he will nibble at hands when he thinks he's being man-handled....so we recommend an owner that can understand and work with Mitch to help him realize he will never be hurt again.
DOGS: Loves other dogs and LOVES to play! Would do best with another med/large dog in the home. CATS: Ignores them. KIDS: Because of his issue with touch, we do not recommend small children. HOUSETRAINED: When I go outside, my priority is to boxer burn! If you make sure I potty before I'm let in (sometimes I forget if there are lots of things to do in the yard) then I won't have accidents inside! OBEDIENCE TRAINING: I know how to sit and will give paw or lay at times. Is food motivated so training can be a breeze! CRATE SKILLS: I do have a touch of separation anxiety (what boxer doesn't?) but I will go into my crate if you throw a treat in or when it's time for my meals. I don't thrash around in my crate, but I will squeak if I hear you walking around and I can't see you! I am still in the chewing stages of puppy-hood so I will need to be crated when home alone. PERKS & QUIRKS: LOVE the sprinklers AND the hose - MY FAVE! I'm sensitive with my feet and neck. Please ask my mommy how to handle me! HEALTH STATUS: Over his kennel cough and ready to go!

FAQ's:
Where is your facility? Can we come see your dogs? WE DO NOT HAVE A SHELTER OR BOARDING FACILITY. ALL OF OUR RESCUES ARE IN PRIVATE HOMES AROUND THE VALLEY. WE INVITE YOU TO ATTEND ONE OF OUR MONTHLY ADOPTION EVENTS IF YOU'D LIKE TO MEET SOME OF OUR RESCUES BEFORE APPLYING TO ADOPT.
Do you adopt out of the state of AZ? ABSOLUTELY! BUT ONE OF OUR REQUIREMENTS IS A HOME VISIT AND WE MAY NOT HAVE A VOLUNTEER IN YOUR STATE. PLEASE VISIT WWW.BOXERMAP.COM TO APPLY WITH A BOXER RESCUE IN YOUR AREA! ONCE APPROVED, IF THEY DON'T HAVE A MATCH FOR YOU, ASK THEM TO CONTACT US AND WE CAN SEE IF THERE MIGHT BE A MATCH TO ONE OF OUR RESCUES!
When/where can we meet your rescues? WE HAVE ADOPTION EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR WHERE YOU CAN MEET THE RESCUES PRIOR TO FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION. SEE THE *EVENTS* SECTION OF OUR WEBSITE TO SEE WHERE WE WILL BE!
Any other way we can meet one of your rescues? IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND AN EVENT, YOU WILL NEED TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION (FIRST STEP) AND RECEIVE A HOME VISIT (LAST STEP) - THERE ARE STEPS IN BETWEEN! ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS WILL BE ABLE TO MEET OUR RESCUES OUTSIDE OF ADOPTION EVENTS...WE CHOOSE NOT TO DISRUPT OUR FOSTER HOMES WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE 'JUST LOOKING'.
Why does it seem that most of your dogs are 'pending' or 'adopted'? By the time I see a rescue I'm interested in and start to fill out the application, they are no longer available! IF YOU HAVE YOUR HEART SET ON A SPECIFIC RESCUE, YOU MAY HAVE YOUR HEART BROKEN. OUR PROCESS IS QUICK, AND WE HAVE A GROWING WAITING LIST OF APPROVED APPLICANTS. THOSE ON THE WAITING LIST GET TO SEE OUR NEW RESCUES BEFORE WE POST THEM FOR ADOPTION AND START TO TAKE NEW APPLICATIONS.
Can I apply for a specific rescue? ABSOLUTELY! IT'S HARD NOT TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THE PICTURES OF OUR RESCUES, BUT IT'S IMPORTANT TO KEEP IN MIND THAT NOT ALL DOGS WILL MATCH ALL HOMES - JUST LIKE ALL HOMES WON'T MATCH ALL DOGS. THE FOSTER HOME KNOWS THEIR RESCUE BEST AND WHAT TYPE OF HOME WILL BEST SUIT THEIR FOSTER. IF YOU HAVE SPECIFICS ABOUT COLOR, AGE, ETC. WE SUGGEST THAT YOU START THE APPROVAL PROCESS SO WE CAN FIND YOUR PERFECT MATCH!

- Let 'em know you saw "Mitch" on Adopt-a-Pet.com!
We are a private, volunteer, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We are dedicated to the rescue of unwanted, neglected, and abandoned pets. We specialize in boxers, but for the perfect home we can help you find the perfect pet, or point you to a rescue who can. We provide food, shelter, medical attention, and TLC during our rescues wait for the "RIGHT" forever home.
All of our dogs are in foster homes throughout the valley - we do not have a shelter that you can visit. Once you submit an application, your references are checked and the home visit is complete, we will contact you to set up a satisfactory meeting place for a get-together with your potential adoptive pet.
Our dogs are cared for in foster homes during this wait. We try to have them in a foster home environment for at least 2 weeks. They are temperament tested to the best of our ability to ensure a perfect match into their new home. Our number one concern is for the safety of the adoptive family and the happiness of the pet. We strive for a FOREVER placement - not all dogs are perfect for all families. We don't want to place "A" dog in your home - we want to place "THE" dog for your family!
We can't save every dog but we can make a difference...one dog at a time!
We are desperately seeking foster homes for our wonderful dogs! We also accept used crates or donations of any kind!
Please contact us about a specific pet - we do not have a shelter facility. All pets are in foster homes around the state of Arizona.
Our Adoption Process...
We prefer e-mail to cut down on cell phone minute usage! Once an application is submitted, it is reviewed, references are checked, and a home visit is done. If approved, we will contact you about the dog you are interested in. We want to place these dogs with the "RIGHT" families so it may take a bit to find that dog for you, please be patient.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We adopt within the state of Arizona or surrounding areas where there is no active boxer rescue.
