Peanut's story...
Peanut was surrendered when her mom had to go to the hospital and await a transplant.  Peanut is a quiet young lady, about 1 to 2 years old, housetrained and weighs about 30 #.  She would be good with anyone although she can be a little shy at first but makes friends quickly.  Her previous owner was driving down the road one day and noticed a man with Peanut in one hand and a hammer in the other coming out the drive to the road.  When asked what he was going to do the man said he was going to kill the dog.  Needless to say Peanut got a new owner immediately, Thanks Goodness.  IF you would like more info on Peanut please give his foster mom a call at 865-567-0832. 9/2009

About Our Rescue Group...
The Grainger County Humane Society receives NO funding from our local government or other outside sources. The Humane Society exists on donations from private individuals, businesses and our volunteers' efforts. We DO NOT have an Animal Shelter or an Animal Control Officer. ALL work is done by our wonderful volunteers. Our long term goal and dream is to have a Shelter and an Animal Control Officer. We desperatly need Foster Homes, please help us out if you can.

Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption fees are $100.00 for Dogs or Cats. Senior Citizens (65 or older)get a special rate of $75.00.

We also have a special foster and adoption process for our Pit Bulls and Pit Bull mixes to ensure they go to good loving homes. They all must be micro-chipped at the time of adoption. For further information on Pit Bull Rescue you may call 865 767-3738 or email timssquaw@hotmail.com.
