Stewie's Story...
Stewie and his sister, Maggie, were left on their own after their mom, a feral, outside kitty gave birth to them. A nice man took them inside to keep them safe, but he didn't have much time to spend with them. Luckily now that they are in foster care, they have really developed happy personalities. Stewie is the most outgoing of his siblings. He loves to play and is really developing into a love bug. Maggie is the most shy and we would like to see her and Stewie adopted together to make the adjustment for Maggie to a new home more easily accomplished. These siblings are about a year and a half old. They have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for feline leukemia/FIV, dewormed, and treated for fleas/ticks. They have been around dogs and cats. They do like other cats. These guys are shy when they first meet you, but if you are willing to take the time with them, they do warm up to you and will be loving kitties with a little time. If you have a quiet environment and are willing to let them progress at their own pace, Maggie and Stewie will delight you. Here is what Stewie's foster mom writes about him: 'Stewie is very sweet and food is the way to his heart. He loves to play with the other cats and likes to drown the toy mice in the water bowl. Stewie loves his big sister Maggie and they like to cuddle on the cat tower together. Stewie has a favorite bed and loves to nap in his pink bed. That is his big boy bed. Stewie is the more outgoing one and loves to play. Stewie is not a big fan of dogs and likes to chase and swat at them. I usually have to tell him to leave the dogs alone. Stewie likes to hunt and prey on food.....usually the food on your plate. Even when you think he is not around, he will swoop up and take what you have. Stewie knows his name. Stewie is afraid of people. He will only let me pet him and pick him up. He runs and hides when people come over. It is going to take a very patient person with both Stewie and Maggie. They are not really lap cats. Someone will really have to continue to work with both of them. Stewie has really taken to me, so I know it is possible for him to love his future mommy or daddy. Stewie greets me at the door and follows me around. His left eye runs, but there is nothing wrong with it.' About Our Rescue Group...
Black and Orange Cat Foundation consists of a small group of volunteers working on trap-neuter-return (TNR) efforts for feral cats and spay/neuter services for stray cats in the Plain City area. Plain City is a rural farming community that is situated in two counties--Madison and Union counties. Because we are a farming area, there are a huge number of "barn cats" that need to be fixed. We are the only group in this area working on an ongoing basis to spay and neuter feral and stray cats.

Never heard of TNR? Trap-neuter-return involves humanely trapping feral or "wild" cats in traps baited with tuna or other yummy kitty foods. The cats, once trapped, are then transported to the vet to be spayed or neutered. We desperately want to cut down on the cat over population problem that is overwhelming so many shelters and TNR is helping us do just that.
But while the cats we trap are feral, there are often kittens or tame cats in these colonies that can be placed in homes. The kitties on these pages have all come from sad situations. With a lot of love, medical help, and plenty of good food, these guys have all become lovebugs looking for forever homes. Won't you please consider one of them so they will never be lonely or hungry again?

We have adoption events at the PetSmart on Sawmill Road in Columbus the fourth Saturday of every month from 12-2. We also have two cages at this PetSmart and you can stop in and meet our cats and fill out an application there.

We require that adopters fill out an application, which can be downloaded from our web site, www.bandocats.org under "How You Can Help" and "Adopt." Once it is filled out, you can email it back to us at bandocats@columbus.rr.com or fax it to 614-873-0972. Our adoption fee is $75. If you adopt two cats or kittens, we only charge one adoption fee. We do not have a shelter, so once you are approved, we will make arrangements to allow you to meet the cat you are interested in through their foster. All cats are in foster homes.
