Hi! My name is Bookie! I am looking for a new home. I am a gentle giant. I enjoy playing in the yard, walking and riding in the car. I LOVE to have my hips scratched. I am loyal and faithful.
I am very well trained I know sit, lay down, NO, paw, kisses, and go home (my crate or sleeping area). I have no puppy chewing or potty problems. I am loose leashed trained so I will not pull or tug during walks or outings. My potty word is HURRY HURRY and I run straight to the door. If I do bark too much I am trained with a water spray bottle....my owner just had to threaten to use it and I would sit down and be good.
I have a slight issue with small children and food. I get cranky when the two are mixed, and live better with adults or teenagers.
I am fixed and up to date with all my shots. I come with my 'home'(crate) and matching leash with pink collar. I am also micro-chipped and come with the paper work to get your information transferred onto it. I take heartworm medicine ever month.
I am an inside dog!!!! I love to be outside in the yard, but I sleep and like to spend time with my humans watching tv. Plus I am afraid of the dark. (really)
I am an amazing friend to animals and humans alike (except chickens). I was living in a home with two other dogs, two cats, and two chickens so I am totally up for more roommates.
I am an amazing protector, no strangers in my house. Once my human invites you in and I know you are a friend we won't ever have that problem again and I will demand love and kisses.
Homeward Bound is a non profit, no-kill organization based in Gilmer County, Georgia which began in August 2000. We are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for unwanted companion animals, while actively seeking permanent homes through our adoption programs. We take in dogs and cats that are found as strays, owner surrenders and abandoned. We also take animals out of high kill shelters to prevent them from being euthanized. We have rescued and adopted out about 4,000 animals.
We hold adoptions every Saturday from 11-5 and every odd Sunday (1st, 3rd and 5th) at PetSmart, 860 Cobb Place Blvd., Kennesaw, GA 30144 (off of Barrett Parkway).
Our Adoption Process...
All dogs are spayed/neutered, current to age on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm negative, and started on heartworm preventative and flea preventative. Adoption fee for dogs are $145.00 cash or check.
All cats are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, dewormed, FELV/FIV negative and started on flea preventative. Adoption fee is $110.00 cash or check.
Application review and approval is required prior to adopting. Adopters must be at least 21 years old.
