Farrah's story...
Farrah finds herself at the shelter after she was picked up by local animal control as a stray. When no one came to claim her she was put up for adoption.
Farrah can get easily excited and has a tenancy to jump up when trying to get your attention or say "hi" although this can be viewed as a "cute" behavior and she means nothing bad by it it should be discouraged for your benefit and hers. Farrah would do well in an active environment guardians who enjoy the outdoors can provide her with plenty of daily exercise as well as exercising her mind on a regular basis would benefit her. Good obedience and a confident guardian is also important as she is still learning so much and is very impressionable. Miss Farrah is extremely playful with people and plays well with most other dogs...as long as they can handle her exuberant nature.
She may get anxious when left alone So she will need to get used to spending time alone slowly a few minutes at a time within a secure environment.
Breed or previous dog experience would benefit Farrah in her new environment this girl is steps away from the perfect dog she's just waiting for the right home come down and meet her...she outgoing sweet and goofy and makes a great ambassador for her breed!

About Our Shelter...

Our Mission:

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its 36 branches located around BC and its provincial office in Vancouver, the BC SPCA provides a wide range of services for more than 53,000 homeless, abused, and abandoned animals around the province. The BC SPCA was created under the auspices of the provincial Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and is the only animal welfare organization in BC which has the authority to enforce laws relating to animal cruelty and to prepare cases for Crown Counsel for the prosecution of individuals who inflict suffering on animals.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
