BIO: Gabrielle (Gabby) is a gorgeous, loving, tiny little girl who came recently from a Puppy Mill.  I was amazed to find she can use a pet door and is potty trained!!! She also is a climber and will not be contained by a simple doggie gate. She fusses when in her crate and is happiest following you around, and staying as close as possible. She is very aggressive with other dogs and needs to be in a home of her own.  Also no children. Gabby is starting to feel more at home now, and I see her becoming playful and happier. Her favorite thing is to get on the couch and scoot and slide all around using her nose to knock all the throw pillows on the floor. She loves to pick up all the rawhide bones and put them in her crate so the house will look neater. Her favorite thing is to cuddle up together on the couch and snuggle in for a little TV. This little lady has a lot of love she wants to give and needs her forever family.Gabby will be available for adoption on October 1!

Out of State and Canadian adopters are welcome. We do not ship our dogs cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport.

If shipping by volunteers through our organization or paid transporter, then there will be an additional $25 fee for the Health Certificate required. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

About Our Rescue Group...
We are a non-profit organization that rescues dachshunds from shelters, owner surrenders and fully vets them including dental and heartworm treated if needed and all health issues addressed before they are put on the website to be adopted. We do this due to the fact that there are so many Dachshunds out there that are bred and brought by people that don't know the breed and after they get the dog home and find out after a couple of months that they can't housebreak the dog and it's not good with their kids, they dump the dog in the shelters or if we are lucky they contacts us. Some Dachshund are not so lucky and get shifted to several homes or are sold to puppymills that bred them into the groud.

You do have to fill out an online adoption application at www.ssdr.org and we will do a phone interview, check your references and vet and we WILL DO a homevisit no matter what state you are in. To adopt a dachshund you must either have a fenced in yard or ALWAYS keep them on leash. These are hunters and if you allow them to run free they will NOT come back or will be hit by a car or attacked by another dog. When you adopt the dog you are giving a two week trail period and if you feel you need more time we are happy to give that to you if you will notify us. We also make you sign a contract that is a legal and binding contract. Once you put in a application to adopt one of our fosters we will try to get back to you as soon as possible. If you have not heard from us in a week please e mail us as your app may have gotten lost. We also have the right to refuse to adopt to anyone that we feel would not make a good home for our Dachshunds. Please remember these dogs have been in at least 2-3 homes possible more and it could take the whole two weeks for them to adjust and possobly longer.
