We are told this by the woman who rescued her:
Francesca's known life history starts 3 1/2 years ago. Originally adopted from the local kill shelter, her adopter was told she was already spayed, but in fact she was pregnant. She was kicked out and forced to fend for herself and her kittens, The woman thinks someone must have taken her in because she disappeared for about 2 years. She returned to her old stomping ground this summer, pregnant.
Poor thing...how many youngins has she had to care for in her short lifetime? When we were asked to take in her litter of kittens, we never even considered leaving her behind!
Francesca acclimated to full-time indoor life the moment she came in. She's never hinted that she has any desire to go outside. She does love spending enormous amounts of time sitting in window sills, sleeping or watching the drama unfold outside. As her foster mom is typing this up, she's curled up on the computer desk, purring. And she has a lot to say. Little chirps, squeaky little meows. And you know she's talking to you because she makes full on eye contact.
She is fine with her foster mom's docile 60-pound german shepard mix. She's a social cat and doesn't run and hide when company comes over...even when they are remodeling the bathroom and making all kinds of racket.
She does enjoy frolicking with other cats, so she'd appreciate a playful cat as a housemate.
She likes to keep all 4 feet on the ground, probably due to the fact she wasn't given a lot of hands-on affection in her earlier years. To compensate, she lovingly requests full body pets and head scratches.
Francesca can be seen at the PetSmart in Greenwood during regular business hours. Adoption applications are accepted 12noon-2pm weekdays and 12noon-4pm on weekends. Francesca's adoption fee is $80. We accept cash, Visa, and Mastercard.
