Rose has been in our care since the Station fire. We hoped that she had fled from home during all the commotion, but an old, untreated, enormous gash on her side, suggested she had been a stray for many, many weeks. Rose is now safe in our care and, for the past month her wound has received daily care. She is spayed, microchipped, current on shots and housetrained. Rose is very sweet and gentle. She presently lives with a couple of other dogs and gets along well with them. We are giving her supplements for her joints, and walk her daily. She would make a great companion for another senior - be it canine, human or both!! Rose qualifies for our "Seniors for Seniors" program. Please ask for details.

2nd Chance is a small non-profit group taking in strays, older and neglected dogs from local shelters, as well as dogs from the homes of terminally ill owners and those left behind after their owner has passed on. When space is available we will also help with dogs whose owners are divorcing or have lost their home.
Visits to our rescue by appointment only. However, we do hold an adoption showcase every other Saturday at the Golden Valley Petsmart. Please visit our web site for future dates. www.2ndChanceDogRescue.org
Our Adoption Process...
We do our best to evaluate each dog thoroughly and give potential adopters detailed and accurate information. We do not adopt out aggressive dogs nor do we accept them into our program. Anyone interested in adopting a pet from 2nd Chance will first be asked to complete an adoption application. This can be obtained by calling our office, or by visiting our web site at www.2ndChanceDogRescue.org. Potential adopters will be required to provide references and give permission for a home check. Subject to approval, the adopter would then be invited to visit the dog in its foster home. During this time, questions will be asked about lifestyle, expectations of the dog, etc. Such questions are not aimed at offending anyone, but at trying to place the right dog in the right home. Remember, most of our dogs have been rejected as least once, and we want their new homes to be as close to perfect as possible. All our dogs must have house privileges. Assuming the adopter is interested in pursuing the adoption process, representatives will then bring the dog to the home for a brief visit. If the adoption process is approved to proceed, the adopter will be asked to foster the dog for one month. At the time of delivery, the adoption fee is payable. If the dog is returned within the one-month trial period, all monies are refunded. Our adoption fees are: Dogs under 7 years - $200 Senior dogs - $100** Cats/Kittens – fee varies After the initial month long trial period, and if all is going well, the adoption becomes final. However, 2nd Chance reserves the right to re-claim the dog if the terms of our adoption contract are not being met. On-going support and advice is available for the lifetime of the dog. If the dog is given up at any time in the future, it must be returned to 2nd Chance, but the adoption fee is not refunded. Please also note that we offer low cost grooming and boarding to any of our alumni. These fees go directly towards helping other dogs in our foster program. **Our “Seniors for Seniors” program may waive the adoption fee for senior citizens.
