Kenny's Story:
Just like Blanche DuBois in 'A Streetcar Named Desire,' Kenny and Kashmir were dependent on the kindness of strangers for their sustenance. They were boyfriend and girlfriend. He's outgoing, and she's shy. She tended to stay in the shrubbery until early in the evening and then would venture out to be fed by the park goers. Kenny was always out. The park was his castle. For weeks Kenny was spotted roaming the park with Kashmir, who is also listed on our website and up for adoption. Many people tried to catch these two, but they weren't easy. It wasn't until 3 incredibly kind-hearted, patient good Samaritans got together with a plan and were able to rescue these two sweethearts and bring them to safety.
Kenny is a Shiba-Inu/Jindo/Shepherd mix, approximately between 1- 2 years old. He has a luxurious soft coat that you just want to pet and touch. He's in good health and was outgoing and friendly towards all the dogs that came to the park with their owners. Kenny played with the dogs and gently took treats and food from the people. He always has an open expression and smiley look on his face and is curious about other dogs and wants to greet them. We don't think Kenny has met a dog he doesn't like.
Kenny is currently being boarded with a trainer & rescuer, who has helped Kenny learn some basic obedience and manners, and he's being socialized since he was the wild man on the town for a bit! So far he's getting an A+ and has already mastered 'come,' 'sit' and 'down.'

Below is some more information (dated June 1, 2010) from Kenny's savior in BOLD.
A handsome mix of two very intelligent and independent breeds, Kenny is thought to be a Shiba Inu/Jindo/Shepherd mixed breed. After living in the wilds of a SoCal park for several months, Kenny was rescued by two good Samaritans and brought to Burbank for boarding and extensive training. When Kenny entered the training program, he had classic resource guarding tendencies and would react with negative behavior. The great news is he has graduated his training boot camp with flying colors! Kenny's adopter will need to maintain his training routines and will be given one on one instruction from the trainer on how to emulate the course. Kenny would best be suited for a home that will offer him a structured routine, secure setting as well as an active life of hiking and walks. Kenny very much enjoys the company of other dogs. He would do best with a person experienced with dogs and can offer a strong lead. Kenny would not be suited for a home with children under the age of 14.
