A VOLUNTEER WROTE:

Jux is a special-need dog. He's deaf. You would not guess it to see this 3-year-old roam around the shelter yard as normal as any curious, bright dog. He just can't hear you and presumably any sound. That's not to say he's not trained. The owner taught him some basic commands with hand signals. Because her son is allergic to animals, she had to surrender Jux. She reported that Jux loves everybody -- men, women, and children and other dogs. We are not sure about cats, but he seems fine with bunnies.  And she said that he's house trained and loves riding in cars. So if you are looking for love and loyalty, and are willing to go the extra mile of adopting a special-need companion, then please come today and get Jux. He's neutered already and can walk out the door with you. He won't hear your voice, but he'll hear your heart..

About Our Rescue Group...
Red Hook Dog Rescue is not a shelter. We started off doing rescue and moved into training. (A Better Dog, Training and Consulting, APDT# 62321) Our main objective is to help keep your dog in your home through training and management.

We know this is not always possible, so we can help you re-home your dog. It would be ideal if the dog could remain in your home until a foster or placement is found, otherwise we require a financial contribution to cover boarding and medical costs.

We get to know our dogs very well and take great pride in matching the right dog with the right family. Fosters, volunteers, sponsers and contributions welcome. Helps us help those who are really in need

Come Meet Our Pets...
Pets can be seen on the internet, and at a kennel in Brooklyn, and sometimes at a kennel in PA. Meetings are by appointment only.
Our Adoption Process...
There is an application to fill out. References are required. Once that is is completed, we do a home visit. Fees range from $175.00 - $200.00. All dogs are fully vaccinated, altered, micro-chipped and Heartworm tested.
There is also an adoption contract to sign. I usually respond to inquiries within a day or so.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
New York City, all 5 boroughs, parts of PA, NJ, CT
