Well... you know me and old dogs, I said I would take her. When I got over to pick her up I heard the whole story. Buffy was one of 3 Bostons owned by an 94 year old gentleman. He was a granfather in law of one of the ACO's and they agreed to try and help find her a home as the other 2 dogs were placed easily because they were younger. The older gentleman was going to put her down and had a grave dug for her and everything and then just couldn't do it. He begged the ACO to find someone to love her for the rest of her life. And that is where we come in. :) When I picked her up she was surprisingly active and friendly for such an elderly dog with hearing and vision impairment. I have hopes that she will be adopted by someone who loves older dogs that will give her a nice place to spend the remaining time she has being loved and spoilt. She does have a mammory tumor and a lump on her butt that we will have checked out when we get her to the vet for care. Poor Buffy, I had her surgeries done and put her in a foster home and she popped her butt stitches so has to go back to the vet to be resewed. I Took Buffy the old lady in since she had the really nasty diarrhea the past 2 days. Dr. Cindy checked the fecal no parasites showing. She didnt have a temp. so we have some metro to give her and we are gonna back off on the baytril and give her amoxi. She also has some etogesic for inflammation and pain. Her mammory tumor and butt tumor results came back today. They were both Adenocarcinoma. We are not sure if there were good margins on the butt one that they are calling anal sack apocrine gland adenocarcinoma. Basically she has cancer and we are to watch to see if any more lumps and bumps appear. Lisa will likely be fostering Buffy until she passes away. We will basically keep her comfortable and when her quality of life is no longer there, then we will make the tough choice to let her go. We need donations for Buffy's care. The first surgery was over $600 and I haven't gotten the amounts back for the second surgery or for the check up afterward yet. Caring for a sweet elderly dog like Buffy may not seem to be something that most folks think of when they think of rescue, but... old dogs need love too and deserve to have a place to be loved and have their lives to enjoy the spoiling and know they are safe. So please donate towards Buffy's care. Thank you. BUFFY's Adoption fee is $Reduced. If you would like to contribute to BUFFY's vet bill, please feel free to use the donation button for your payment through Paypal or you can mail the payment to the vet with the notation 'American Boston Terrier Rescue - BUFFY to: Cynthia Westbrook DVM. 822 N.
