PBR Lincoln's story...
Please contact Tina (rwladywolf@verizon.net) for more information about this pet.

Lincoln is an adorable older beagle with tons of personality and love to give! He loves to play with stuffed animals and will take them out into the yard to find a good hiding place for them.

Because of his beagle instinct to follow a scent, Lincoln should have constant supervision outside or be on a leash, even in a fenced yard.

Lincoln is good with other dogs and kids, and pays no attention to cats. He also walks well on a leash, but really only likes to go for short walks. He is content taking a nap in his crate while his foster family is away, and sleeps in his crate at night.

Lincoln is very laid back and calm, and would be a great addition to a family that can be gentle with him in his golden years, or for a senior citizen looking for a sweet, funny, and cuddly companion.

Lincoln does have a couple special needs that a potential adopter should know before adopting him. Before coming to his foster home, he was at Vector Control for a few weeks. Because of his older age and a large tumor in his mouth, he was often overlooked by people coming in to adopt. Lincoln's time had run out, but he had won the hearts of several volunteers at the pound and so his foster mom took him home. The tumor in his mouth was removed, and unfortunately, a biopsy revealed that the tumor was cancerous. However, since the tumor's removal at the end of May, Lincoln has been cancer-free and shows no signs that he was ever sick.

Lincoln also has some allergies that can cause ear problems and itching, but Lincoln eats a special food that keeps his allergies under control. Lincoln is such a wonderful little guy, and would love to find his forever home to be spoiled in during his golden years.

Could you give him the love and attention he so deserves? Come to an adoption event or make an appointment to meet Lincoln in person!

About Our Rescue Group...
We are a 501c non-profit organization. All of our members are volunteers, who share a common love of animals. In October 2003 our local animal shelter announced they would no longer handle adoptions of the homeless animals bought into the shelter. We worked with the county of Muskegon and eventually took over the adoption program for the shelter. Otherwise all animals taken into the shelter would of been euthanized if an owner did not show up to claim them. As part of the agreement with the county we also do the cleaning and feeding of the animals on weekends and holidays.
We also have foster families who take in homeless pets from the shelter to live with them until they can find their forever home.

Come Meet Our Pets...
We work from the main shelter at 1300 E. Keating, Muskegon, MI. We are open to the public for adoptions of shelter dogs on Wednesdays from 5:30pm -7:00pm and Saturdays from 11:00am-1:30pm. We also have adopt-a-days for our dogs in foster care who live with families. Please check the website for additonal information. To schedule a meeting outside of an adopt-a-day for a foster pet, you must first have an approved application. We then set up an appointment for you.
Our Adoption Process...
In order to adopt you must first submit an application. Upon approval of the application we will set up an appointment to meet a foster dog or invite you to the shelter to adopt a shelter dog.
You may obtain an application by visting our website and clicking on the pet's picture page, or e-mailing rwladywolf@verizon.net for an application to be e-mailed to you.
The fee for a shelter dog is a $125.00 pre-paid deposit to your vet ( this deposit is towards the cost of altering the pet .) plus $20.00 to us for microchipping. The cost of adoption for a foster dog is $195.00 - $300.00 since they have already been altered and are up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped.
We require all family members and dogs to meet the dog before adoption. We track the dogs progress for the rest of it's life. We always take our dogs back if something happens and you can no longer keep your dog. This is why we want to make sure it is a perfect fit right from the beginning!

We do adopt out of state but you must own your home and have a vet reference. We do not ship our dogs. You must travel to Muskegon in order to meet them.

We do NOT adopt to homes with unaltered pets. No exceptions.
