Tamaki is a one year old purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Tamaki is a high energy, happy go lucky, playful dog. He needs a large fenced in yard to run and play in, so he can burn off all that energy.
He is a house dog, and loves to be inside with his foster family. He loves to sit on the teenager's lap when going for a car ride. He enjoys sitting on the sofa with the family during TV time in the evening. He is much calmer inside if he has had play time outside first.
Tamaki is house trained. But, he does need to be taken out regularly to do his business.
Tamaki is also crate trained. He can sleep in a crate when needed. But, he prefers to sleep where ever he wants in the house. He does best in his crate if he has a blanket to lay on, and a plush toy to sleep with. He would however be happiest if allowed to sleep in the bed with his family.
Tamaki does need training to learn to be calmer on a leash. He could also use training to learn the basic commands.
Tamaki is good with other dogs, as well as cats; as long as those animals are good with him. Like people, he does have a personality clash with some of the foster dogs who have pushy attitudes with him. The only cats he barks at, are the ones who tease him and antagonize him. He gives kisses to the dog friendly cats, and snuggles with them, and rubs on them. Because Corgi's are herding dogs, he does nip. Because of this, we can not adopt him to a home with small children.
Tamaki is neutered, dewormed, defleaed, up to date on vaccinations, tested negative for heartworms, and is on monthly Interceptor heartworm prevention.
Tamaki's adoption fee is $150.00. Completeing a prescreening application, a vet reference, and a home visit are required to be considered to adopt a dog from us. If you are interested in adopting, please fax or email in your application. You can download the application at: http://www.acadianahumane.org/2009AHSPreScreeningApplication2.doc
