I am already neutered, housetrained, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, not good with kids, and good with cats.
Our vet calls Oleander and Barney the 'Brokeback Mountain Boys,' because they love each other and like to be together. Oleander is the orange tabby with the long gorgeous hair, while Barney is the big brown tabby. Oleander has long orange hair that is super soft. He is shy and for a long time, his foster mom couldn't figure out what was upsetting him. Turns out, he was being bullied by a dominate cat and he was scared. Once he was able to be in a foster home without the bully, he turned into a completely different cat. Oleander loves people and he likes to be petted. He also likes other cats, as long as they are not dominate. He especially likes Barney who was living outside and came into Oleander's life because of an ear infection. Poor Barney had such a bad ear infection that he has some deafness now. But that is okay with Oleander--he is just glad that his buddy found him. As for Oleander, he came to us from a very bad situation at a trailer park. When we found him, he had a large wound on his head. The boys would like to be adopted together for one adoption fee. They do need a home where someone will be willing to let them adjust slowly. They will be scared at first, but will quickly become your best friends. Both boys are about 4-5 years old. They have been neutered, vaccinated, and tested negative for feline leukemia/FIV. Oleander does like to talk to you and he and Barney are just looking for a home where they can be spoiled and loved. Won't you give Oleander a chance to be your big orange fluffy kitty? He'll bring along a big brown tabby named Barney so he won't be lonely!! Black and Orange Cat Foundation consists of a small group of volunteers working on trap-neuter-return (TNR) efforts for feral cats and spay/neuter services for stray cats in the Plain City area. Plain City is a rural farming community that is situated in two counties--Madison and Union counties. Because we are a farming area, there are a huge number of "barn cats" that need to be fixed. We are the only group in this area working on an ongoing basis to spay and neuter feral and stray cats.
Never heard of TNR? Trap-neuter-return involves humanely trapping feral or "wild" cats in traps baited with tuna or other yummy kitty foods. The cats, once trapped, are then transported to the vet to be spayed or neutered. We desperately want to cut down on the cat over population problem that is overwhelming so many shelters and TNR is helping us do just that.
But while the cats we trap are feral, there are often kittens or tame cats in these colonies that can be placed in homes. The kitties on these pages have all come from sad situations. With a lot of love, medical help, and plenty of good food, these guys have all become lovebugs looking for forever homes. Won't you please consider one of them so they will never be lonely or hungry again?
We have adoption events at the PetSmart on Sawmill Road in Columbus the fourth Saturday of every month from 12-2. We also have two cages at this PetSmart and you can stop in and meet our cats and fill out an application there.
We require that adopters fill out an application, which can be downloaded from our web site, www.bandocats.org under "How You Can Help" and "Adopt." Once it is filled out, you can email it back to us at bandocats@columbus.rr.com or fax it to 614-873-0972. Our adoption fee is $75. If you adopt two cats or kittens, we only charge one adoption fee. We do not have a shelter, so once you are approved, we will make arrangements to allow you to meet the cat you are interested in through their foster. All cats are in foster homes.
We work mainly in Plain City, Ohio, which is divided between Madison and Union Counties.
