Fannie's story...
Fannie is an older brindle gal who found herself scared & confused in the local pound. She’s approximately 35- 40 lbs. & looks like she’s part French Bull Dog & terrier. She’s very camera shy so therefore our pictures are not that good. She’s very shy with strangers, but warms up once she knows you’re a friend. We estimate her age at about 6-8 yrs. but one vet thought she was about 6, we’re just not sure.
A nice lady from another rescue group took Fannie out of animal control & Fannie was doing nicely in their facility until 1 day when 1 of their directors made the decision that Fannie was "too old" & "nearly blind" to be in their place & "would take too long to place" & would take up space for another dog that was an easier placement. She also made a claim that Fannie bit her, yet Fannie had been among several other volunteers without any problem whatsoever.
The woman had her thrown back into animal control where she would have surely been destroyed for a bite history. In the interests of disclosure, I have to say that she is alleged to have bitten but I don’t believe it is true. The person who made the allegation changed her story several times & couldn’t show me a bite or bruise & was very nasty when I pressed her for the truth so I took the dog home to evaluate her. Fannie does have some quirks. She doesn’t like to be picked up, held or restrained. If you try to do these things she gets very fearful & panics, sometimes turns her head as if to mouth you, but squirms away instead. She has had ample opportunity to bite the dickens out of me but never has.
Fannie is a funny little thing who loves to go for walks & loves to sniff around the back yard & roll around in the grass. She knows a lot of commands. She’ll come up to her foster mom & snuggle up to her when on the steps & she sometimes puts her front legs up on foster mom’s lap to have her head petted & ears scratched or rubbed. She’ll give little kisses, but all these things must be on her terms so she feels safe.
Unfortunately, Fannie is not entirely house trained but her foster mom feels that in a home where she can be walked regularly outside, her bathroom habits will improve. She would be a nice pet for someone who likes walking in the neighborhood or who enjoys working outside since Fannie loves both walking & hanging out in the outdoors.
We would love to see Fannie in a loving home to live out her older years. She seems to have limited evening vision & is a little stiff legged when she walks or runs, but she’s still very happy & spry in spite of her limitations. She has a healthy appetite as well. Fannie is okay with some dogs & not with others. We have never tested her with cats, so we don’t know what her reaction would be to a cat.
All we know is that once upon a time, Fannie was someone's beloved pet & they took the time to train her commands. Somewhere along the way she was abandoned to the system, whether her owner died, or went into a nursing home, lost interest in her, moved or for some other reason gave her up. She’s a low key dog & doesn't expect much, which makes us love her all the more since she really does deserve to be treated like a little princess for the rest of her days.

About Our Rescue Group...
All Star Pet Rescue is an all volunteer, non-profit, no-kill organization formed in April 2006. We don’t have a facility & are comprised solely of foster homes for homeless pets. Our mission is to network with other shelters & rescue groups to take in animals needing a new start. We don’t discriminate based on breed, age or health status & only place the animals in loving & responsible homes. We also work to educate the public about the benefit of spaying or neutering their animals & the usefulness of micro-chipping.

We receive no public funding & count on animal lovers to help provide the medical care & supplies necessary for the health, safety & comfort of our rescues. Monetary donations are always needed & greatly appreciated. It’s because of monies donated that we’re able to continue our work for the animals. We’re a recognized 501c3 organization so your donations are tax deductible.

Come Meet Our Pets...
All of our animals are in foster homes, but they can be seen on certain days at Pet Valu in the Kings Shopping Center at 300 South Ave. in Garwood. Check our websites for the dates that we're there at www.allstar.petfinder.com.
Our Adoption Process...
We do have an adoption fee which goes right back to the animals for food, medical treatment, etc. Yo do have to sign a contract. We also do have certain requirements when placing our animals, some are general & some can be based on the situation.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We mostly serve the areas around us, but have served out of the area.
