| My name is Mercy Man (my foster Mom calls me “Manny”) and I'm a happy, active bichon boy born in mid 2008 and weigh 11 pounds. A Good Samaritan found me walking down the side of a country road. She said she wasn't sure what I was at first because I was so dirty and my hair was so matted. She took me home and spent 3 hours trying to shave the matted hair off. After some of the hair came off, she found out that I had a broken right back leg. It didn't seem to hurt me and I was walking pretty well with it lifted up. We also found out that I had heartworms. Boy, it doesn't seem fair for such a young boy to have so many problems. My foster Mom brought be back to the big city and took him to the surgeon to see if my leg could be fixed. It was broken in several places and nobody knew how long it had been that way. They were not able to repair it so they had to amputate my leg. But, don't feel sorry for me – I don't even know it is gone. I run, jump, and play without any problem. After I recovered from surgery, I started treatment for the nasty, old heartworms. I had to get 3 shots that really hurt. But, they worked and I'm cured and boy do I feel better (the heartworms had made my heart larger and it was harder to breathe). Now I can really run and play. In my foster home, there are other Fluff kids for me to play with. I sleep in the big bed and love to snuggle with my Mom. The only cats that I've met were at the groomer’s and I didn't pay any attention to them (they have free run of the place). One day when I was on the grooming table, the new kitten climbed up there and started licking me and I just let him. I learned to use the doggy doors pretty fast and have done well with my housebreaking. We don't know if I like kids because I've not met any while at my foster home so if you have kids, they should be at least 10 years old. I get along with the other Fluffs, but could also probably be your only dog because I love to be the center of attention. Mercy is being fostered in TX.
