Ty's story...
Ty
Age: 3 yrs
Color: sable
Weight: 41 lbs
Height: 20”
Gender: neutered male
This is Ty. We don’t know for sure how old he is since he was dropped in the shelter’s back yard overnight but his veterinarian believes him to be about 3 years of age. Because of his sun burnt coat, his foster mom thinks he spent a lot of time outside previously but he is very comfortable and well mannered in the house. Ty is sable and white, 20” tall and weighs in at 41.5 lbs. He isn’t overweight at all – he’s just a big boy. He will have a lovely coat once the new one grows in to replace the burnt hair. Ty is a sweetie who tags after his foster mom regardless of whether she is in the house or out in the yard. He likes to bark it up when playing, is housetrained (though he does sometimes mark in new places), enjoys playing with other dogs and rests quietly on the floor when his foster mom is working on the computer. Ty rides nicely in the car, gets along with cats and other dogs, and enjoys meeting people. If you are looking for an outgoing, gentle giant of a sheltie, then Ty is waiting to steal your heart.

About Our Rescue Group...
Indiana Sheltie Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation consisting of a small group of volunteers who have come together to help homeless shelties. We are always looking for additional volunteers, and capable and loving foster homes to offer a temporary safe haven to Shetland Sheepdogs. Our shelties make their way into our program as owner surrenders, shelter dogs, or are found as strays by caring individuals.

Because we are a small group of volunteers, most of our work is done within the borders of Indiana. Our number one concern is the future and safety of our rescued shelties and we are anxious to hear from you if you think our program is appropriate for you!

Our Adoption Process...
All shelties are first placed in foster homes to be evaluated for their health and temperament and receive medical care. Our adoption fee is $175, which includes medical care, spaying or neutering, all vaccines, and micro chipping. The adoption fee for dogs over 10 is reduced to $50 in an effort not to lessen their value but to increase interest in adopting senior dogs. Each adopter is required to fill out an application, available either online or by snail mail. Each adopter must also have a home visit. We then work to match the right dog to the right home situation in an effort to find a permanent home for each sheltie for the remainder of his or her life. If you see one of our dogs that particularly appeals to you, please feel free to apply for that dog (although the pre-adoptive procedures still need to be completed).

We also have an adoption contract to be signed before the adoption is complete, at which time you receive copies of all medical records. Should something fail with the adoption after all this effort, the sheltie must be returned to Indiana Sheltie Rescue.
