I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, not good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Taz's Story...
Taz is a tiny, 6.5 pound pure bred Red Pomeranian. He is a precious little guy, looking for a new home through no fault of his own. They could not remember his exact age, but they think he is about 8 years old. His owners are relocating, and sadly Taz cannot go along. He came in with his little friend, Muffin. They are, however, quite independant of one another. Muffin has gone to her new home, now it is Tazzie's turn.
Taz has been neutered and is current on all his vaccinations. He is scheduled for a dental and heart worm check. On July 19th, 2010, Taz had to have life saving surgery to address a massive number of bladder stones. Taz will now need to have a special diet all the rest of his life to prevent more stones from forming. His gorgeous coat was partially cut for his surgery, but it should grow back quickly. Taz's dental is now complete ... he lost two teeth. Taz's heartworm check was negative, and he is on preventative. The outlook for the rest of his life should be perfectly normal.
Taz is a little bossy with the other dogs and great with the cats. Taz is totally house trained, and uses the doggie door faithfully. He loves to be held and talked to and loves sleeping on the bed with his person at night. Grooming is a breeze with this little guy. He will make a wonderful little companion for that special someone.
K9HAVEN Rescue is a 501(c)3 rescue, and Taz's $150 adoption fee is tax deductible. We require an application, references, home visit, an adoption contract and secure fencing. Taz will not be adopted to a home with young children ... he could easily be injured.

Our adoption process begins with an application. Each adoptor is required to provide 2 personal references (3 if not a current pet owner and no vet reference); a vet reference; and a home visit. Our minimum adoption fee is $50, 12 and older are usually $75, 8-11 are at least $150, and puppy to 7 are generally $200. Pure bred, perfectly healthy dogs may run higher. All generally depend on vetting expenses. Each adoptor is required to sign an adoption contract which returns the dog to rescue if they are unable to keep the dog for any reason.

We mainly serve the Custer County, Nebraska area. On occasion we will pull a dog from other Nebraska shelters if contacted by them for a special needs dog.
