Alma's Story...
If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please complete this Pre-Qualification Form and email it to adoptions@adoptarpo.org.

Meet Alma...

Alma was surrendered to a local shelter in horrible condition, half starved and barely able to walk. Shelter workers were concerned that she would not make it and contacted ARPO volunteers for help. That was in August...fast forward through months of TLC, quality food and good vet care and Alma is a healthy and sassy little thing ready to find her place in the world. And it should be a special place!

We posted a picture of what Alma looked like when her previous owners surrendered her...it's hard to look at now, but important to realize how far this little girl has come already.

Alma was an incredibly sweet and submissive puppy, so excited when she was shown the least bit of attention. We're guessing she was born around March 2010, and as she's gained strength and become a "normal" dog, she has also gained lots of self-confidence. She is crate trained and finds security in having her own place. She also has learned to walk perfectly on leash.

Whoever is interested in Alma will need to be patient with her as she explores new situations and meets people. In her foster home, Alma plays beautifully with other dogs. Athough she can be socially awkward when meeting new dogs for the first time outside the home.

We have no way of knowing what breed mix Alma is, but we're taking a guess that she's a shepherd/terrier mix. She's got the funniest little underbite and kind of a bulldog stance, though her facial markings seem more shepherdy...she really is a funny little thing!
