I am already spayed, housetrained, and up to date with shots.
October 2010, Raven caught our attention as a dog who was completely unnoticed in one of the city’s impounding shelters. An experienced volunteer from Forte Animal Rescue went to the pound and picked her up. She reported Raven was pretty and sweet.
A year and two months later, this 45-lbs., beautiful Australian Shepherd mix is still in our care. Because she’s a gorgeous dog, she attracts people, but we have discovered that she needs a truly dog savvy person.
Her trainers said she’s one of the smartest dogs, but the problem is: she’s hypersensitive. She takes everything personally, and needs an adopter who can shield negative energy and redirect her attention.
For someone who understands dogs, she could be a fun project, but those who are novice in dog handling may find her unpredictable. This is one dog who seeks a special person who can read her and understand her issues — once you get it, it’s quite easy to predict her next move, but it’s been impossible to find that special person.
A head-strong Pit Bull is always a challenge to find a home for, but in a way, their problems are more straight forward and simpler to manage. In fact, Forte Animal Rescue has placed many Pit Bulls with issues, among more than 900 dogs, in their forever homes. The group is seeking an extraordinary person, almost like Patricia McConnell, to provide Raven a home and loving care.
If you are interested in meeting Raven, please set up an appointment.
[Raven is 1-2 years old and about 45 lbs.]

All potential adopters are carefully screened through our adoption process:
- If you're interested in an animal, we'll ask that you fill out a questionnaire, which we will review to ensure you and the dog you are interested in adopting are a good match.
- You will be asked to submit to a "house-check" to determine the level of safety and adequacy of the area for the dog.
- An adoption fee is required and you must sign the adoption contract agreement, which ensures that if, for any reason, you are unable to keep the dog, he/she to be returned to Forte Animal Rescue only.
- Finally, we personally deliver your new family member to your home.
- Any additional donation would be greatly appreciated, and this portion will be tax-deductible. The donation goes to pay for all of the other animals in our care, many of which come to us with injuries or medical conditions that require treatment. Forte Animal Rescue survives solely on donations and it is for this reason that the adoption fee is nonnegotiable.
- Forte Animal Rescue reserves the right to cancel the adoption process at any time if the home situation or adoptive family has been misrepresented, if certain information was withheld, or if the dog is determined to be a better match with another family.
