Jake's story...

Arrival story: : Jake was left behind by his family when they moved out of state. We’re not sure how anyone could do that, especially to Jake. While he brings a smile to everyone that he meets, his forever home has eluded him. We think that there is a home for every dog so Jake is patiently waiting for that special someone.

Approximate age & weight: 2 ½ years old and 70lbs. He’s all Legs!

Personality: Personality? This guy has it and makes everyone laugh! He is intelligent and alert but also affectionate as he’s grown very fond of his foster family. We think he really wants a forever home that will make him feel like part of the pack. He likes to be where the action is! Jake is housetrained, knows basic commands and gets along with other dogs, and even cats!

Jake's forever home: We'd like Jake to have an active family that has experience and is knowledgeable about the Wirehaired Pointer breed. Jake would love to have another dog pal to play with. To be the best dog he can be, playtime, walks and mental stimulation are basic necessities because this Smarty-pants may get bored easily. Activities/toys like Kongs and Buster Cubes are great for dogs like Jake. He’d love to learn tricks and maybe even some backyard agility! This will keep him out of mischief and focused on his people. We’d like Jake to have a physical fence at his new home.

About Our Rescue Group...
Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue is a dedicated group of volunteers who are commited to saving stray, abandoned, neglected, and surrendered dogs. We are all veterans to the world of animal rescue, but have come together to begin our own endeavor. We are foster based, meaning we do not have a shelter. We do this because we love dogs and they need us!

Come Meet Our Pets...
We typically show every Saturday from 12-3 p.m. (please see our website for exact location details). We often have other special events that are listed on our website. Potential adopters can also schedule meetings with the foster parents.
Our Adoption Process...
We utilize an application process because we have worked hard at nurturing and working with the animals in our care. In order to ensure that these formerly abandoned, neglected and abused animals never find themselves in the shelter/rescue system again, we screen applicants so that the applicant is matched to an animal that is suited to the applicant's lifestyle.

It is our job at Waggin’ Tails not only to find new homes for our animals but to ensure these animals never have an opportunity to breed again. All of Waggin’ Tails dogs will be spayed/neutered at the time of adoption unless the dog is not of age and/or the dog has a medical condition that would prohibit sterilization at the time of adoption. Dogs under 6 months of age and dogs that cannot be sterlilized due to a medical condition will be adopted out on a spay/neuter contract which means the adopter must agree to have the dog sterilized by a specified date.

Adoption Fees
Sterilized Adult Dogs: $175
Puppies (under 6 months): $200 + $50 refundable Spay/Neuter Deposit

What does the adoption fee Include?
The adoption fees above cover all age-appropriate vaccines; heartworm/fecal test; spay/neuter (unless otherwise stated); and microchipping. When necessary, the dogs have blood panels, dentals, and professional grooming as well. In other words, we do everything necessary for the dog when they come into our care.

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We serve mostly Southeast Michigan and try to extend ourselves further when necessary.
