| Lucy is a sweet tabby approximately 3-4 years old. She was rescued in Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina. After several months of searching for her owner, we discovered that even before the hurricane, she didn't have a family to love. Turns out she was the neighborhood stray-- willing to give love to anyone and everyone who showed her any attention. Since her rescue last year, Lucy has been cozy and content staying in a foster home, but she still craves a permanent home of her own. Coming from the South as she did, Lucy loves warm places - on a radiator, near a heater, under blankets, or on a warm lap. Lucy tested positive for FIV-- likely contracted the virus while trying to survive in the flooded streets after Katrina. FIV is not a death sentence. Her caregiver will need to be proactive with her veterinary care because her immune system is compromised by the FIV, but otherwise, she should live a normal and healthy life. Lucy is a spirited one-- nothing seems to slow her down-- not Hurricane Katrina, not FIV. She is a fighter and until now, she has had a difficult life. Lucy deserves to have a family to love and who will love her. She gets along well with dogs, but because she is FIV+ it would be best for her to be adopted into a home without another cat. Lucy is spayed, tested negative for feline leukemia and is current on her vaccines. |
