Paloma's Story...
I was rescued at one of Best Friends super adoption events and have been waiting for a home for FOUR long years! After the recent major knee surgery and dreading three years in a kennel cell, I thought I got a break – I’ve been in a foster home for the past several months.

My foster mom showered me with TLC and I was having a life style any dog should deserve. BUT the heartless landlord kicked me out! I’m not a barker. I’m no trouble at all. I’m as sweet as marshmallow, but just because I’m a Pit Bull, stereotypical people do not give me a chance to start with.

This was the first time I began to reclaim my life in which I was doted, loved and given a soft place to land. If I go back to the boarding where I would be confined in a cage, it will very likely finish me. . . There's so much a dog can take. Any kennel boarding has to be temporary, and that is not where dogs should be shoved in for years.

I’m at a temporary foster home, where a lot of volunteers have to share the tasks and pitch in their time, only to keep me out of a cage. I really need a home and family I can call my own!

I am loving and very intelligent. I would love to go to a home with someone patient, gentle, and smart enough to understand me. I am happy and grateful when people come take me out for the day (I especially love car rides!), and it makes me hopeful that I can have a forever home soon. If you think you want to make my dreams come true, please contact my guardian angels TODAY!

[Paloma was born around Aug/06 and weighs about 58 lbs.]

Our Adoption Process...
All potential adopters are carefully screened through our adoption process:

- If you're interested in an animal, we'll ask that you fill out a questionnaire, which we will review to ensure you and the dog you are interested in adopting are a good match.

- You will be asked to submit to a "house-check" to determine the level of safety and adequacy of the area for the dog.

- An adoption fee is required and you must sign the adoption contract agreement, which ensures that if, for any reason, you are unable to keep the dog, he/she to be returned to Forte Animal Rescue only.

- Finally, we personally deliver your new family member to your home.

- Any additional donation would be greatly appreciated, and this portion will be tax-deductible. The donation goes to pay for all of the other animals in our care, many of which come to us with injuries or medical conditions that require treatment. Forte Animal Rescue survives solely on donations and it is for this reason that the adoption fee is nonnegotiable.

- Forte Animal Rescue reserves the right to cancel the adoption process at any time if the home situation or adoptive family has been misrepresented, if certain information was withheld, or if the dog is determined to be a better match with another family.
