Chase is a handsome two year old boy! He was rescued by a little boy and is named for him. When he was found, Chase had a severly fractured left-rear leg, was covered in abrasions, and weighed in at 38 lbs. Due to his leg's condition, he had to undergo an amputation (now missing his left-rear leg) but he is now up to a healthy 80 lb. weight! Chase is very personable and does well with even small children. He does have some food aggression, however, and should not be fed with others, particularly cats. Chase is full of energy and can run faster than most four-legged dogs. He does dig out of fences, so a farm with lots of land to run around is his true dream home. Chase is one of our "Assist-to-Place" dogs -- meaning that while we don't have room to hold him at our shelter, we're trying to help his current keeper find him the home he deserves. The adoption fee is to be discussed and may be waived if the right home is found. If you are interested in Chase, please call Linda at 812-967-8758; messages will be returned. Please help us find a loving, fur-ever home for this sweet boy!

The Animal Protection Association is a nonprofit 501c3 no-kill shelter based in Jeffersonville, Indiana with a satellite focused on spaying and neutering in Borden, Indiana. Our organization is relatively small, but our spirit has kept us thriving since August 1999. Since we began, we have placed more than 2,000 animals (cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, and even some farm animals) in loving forever homes. We stand strongly on the spay/neuter platform, and we've worked with our local schools and youth to spread the ideals of responsible pet ownership even further. Occasionally we've also been able to help those less fortunate within the community to offset their personal vet bills as well. We're a very dedicated group, but we're always in need of more volunteers, money for our vet bills, and basic supplies (especially cat litter!).
We have regular adoption hours on Saturday mornings from 12(noon)-3pm at the shelter on East 11th Street. We also have a couple of adoption cages at the Clarksville Feeders Supply (Clark Station, 229 E. Lewis and Clark Pkwy.) which can be viewed during the store's business hours. Primarily we schedule adoptions by appointment -- just call our number and leave a message; someone will return your call shortly and arrange to meet you.
Our Adoption Process...
An adoption application may be filled out online or in person. Once references are checked and information verified, the adoption fee is the only thing left between you and your new fur-ever friend -- $60 for kittens, cats, and puppies and $75 for adult dogs; the fee covers spaying/neutering, up-to-date vaccinations, and testing for FIV/Leukemia or heartworms as well as any other needed veterinary care.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Louisville, Jeffersonville, New Albany, Clarksville, Borden, etc. -- but we've adopted to people all across the country. Just as your soul mate may live half-way across the globe, so might your new fur-ever friend.
