Basic Information About This Opportunity

Title: Cat or Dog Foster
Expiration date:

Description

Each year, thousands of cats and dogs are euthanized in the DC metropolitan area because of a lack of homes. By providing a temporary home to one of these animals while it awaits adoption, you can save an animal's life.

Fostering a cat or dog with the Montgomery County SPCA is a rewarding way to volunteer from home. Fosters provide a loving, temporary home for their foster pet, including day to day care of their foster pet. In return, you are rewarded with the love and gratitude of your new feline or canine friend.

The Montgomery County SPCA provides all medical care for the animal, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and medical screening. We can also loan supplies such as litter boxes, crates, collars, leashes, and water and food bowls.

Won't you open your heart and home to an animal in need? No experience is required to become a foster, just a loving environment.

The responsibilities as a foster include:

-Day to day care of your foster pet.
-At least one visit to the MCSPCA vet for a full exam. All animals are up to date on vaccinations as well as spay/neutered before adoption. All vet expenses are covered by the MCSPCA.
-Assist with the screening of perspective adopters.
-Attend one or two adoption events each month, which are held on Saturday or Sunday afternoons in Montgomery County, Maryland.
