|Title:||Transport Chain Volunteer|
If we are having trouble adopting out an animal from our shelter, we attempt to place them with rescues or other shelters around the Midwest or Southeast. Sometimes this involves significant travel time that our staff simply cannot always provide given their large daily workload.
Transport volunteers typically work on short notice. They must have a valid driver's license, the ability to drive their personal vehicle, and willingness to cover the cost of gas for the trip. The frequency and duration of transport trips, the destinations, and the number/type of animals transported can sometimes vary greatly. The VHS will provide carriers and/or crates for animals being transported.
Before you can help out with this opportunity, you'll need to sign up as a volunteer. Once you've done that, you'll be able to contact the shelter and express your interest helping out with this opportunity. You'll also be able to create a volunteer profile, which will let shelters and rescue groups in your area find volunteer opportunities that best match your skills and interests.
Volunteering is a great way to help pets in need and meet other caring humans like you!
