A Leg Up Rescue mainly cares for small dogs, under 10 lb. These dogs could be completely normal behaviorally, but their time at the shelter has run out, or they could be shy and fearful and simply do not show well at a shelter. Most dogs require lessons in housetraining and some basic obedience. Some dogs take several weeks to find a new home, others can take several months. If you have room in your home for a small dog, ALUR can use your help. ALUR needs foster parents from as far north as Sonoma County, Marin County and we also need foster homes in Solano County and close in Sacramento. Please let us know if you can help.
Before you can help out with this opportunity, you'll need to sign up as a volunteer. Once you've done that, you'll be able to contact the rescue group and express your interest helping out with this opportunity. You'll also be able to create a volunteer profile, which will let shelters and rescue groups in your area find volunteer opportunities that best match your skills and interests.
Volunteering is a great way to help pets in need and meet other caring humans like you!
