North America's largest non-profit pet adoption website
|Title:||Adoption Center Volunteer|
The Santa Cruz SPCA is seeking dedicated reliable volunteers for our new Mall Adoption Center. This will be a high volume adoption center where we hope to find homes for a record number of animals. The majority of the animals which we rescue would have otherwise been put down due to lack of space in larger municipal and county run animal shelters. This means that the more we adopt out, the more we can rescue. By volunteering at the Mall Adoption Center, you will be directly helping to save lives!
Volunteers are needed for the following tasks:
Morning Pick Up - Morning volunteers will pick up dogs and/or cats from the SPCA shelter on Chanticleer Avenue at 10am to transport them in dog and cat carriers to the Mall Adoption Center store at the Capitola Mall.
Day Time Adoption Center - Volunteers at the adoption center will have a variety of duties and responsibilities to perform, including but not limited to:
*Preparing animal play pens and cat condos
*Ensuring that all animals throughout the day are consistently clean and always have fresh water. This may involve cleaning out puppy pens and adult dog play pens, scooping cat litter, changing water, etc (not only does this make the animals happier and healthier, it also makes them more adoptable!)
*Taking dogs on walks and potty breaks.
*Answer questions about the animals’ ages and other basic information, provided on the paperwork which is picked up each morning with the animals.
*Greet the public as they enter the adoption center and assist them in finding a match if they are looking for a specific size, breed, age or type of animals, or refer them to an employee if needed.
Closing/End of Day Transport –
Volunteers who choose to sign up for end of day transport will bring animals from the adoption center to the shelter before the store closes at the end of the day.
This opportunity can count as an internship or for school volunteer credits. Volunteers should be reliable, able to commit to specific days, and consistently follow through on agreed upon days and times (days and times are flexible, but we do need the volunteers to show up when they sign up for a specific day and time).
The next Volunteer orientation will be on the first Monday of the month at 4:00pm at the Santa Cruz SPCA - 2685 Chanticleer Avenue in Santa Cruz, CA.
We look forward to working with you! If you have any questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Before you can help out with this opportunity, you'll need to sign up as a volunteer. Once you've done that, you'll be able to contact the rescue group and express your interest helping out with this opportunity. You'll also be able to create a volunteer profile, which will let shelters and rescue groups in your area find volunteer opportunities that best match your skills and interests.
Volunteering is a great way to help pets in need and meet other caring humans like you!
