Foster a Dog or Cat During the Coronavirus Crisis

Shelters and rescues are always in need of foster homes, but never more so than in emergency situations such as the current fight against Coronavirus. You can save the life of a dog or cat (or a bunny, a hamster, a lizard…any animal!) by giving them a temporary home during the COVID-19 crisis.

Did you know?:

  • Shelters and rescues usually provide everything you need to be a foster, other than food. (And some of them provide food, too!) You won’t be expected to pay out-of-pocket for anything else.
  • You can almost always choose the pet you want to foster, provided that pet is a match for your home and lifestyle.
  • If the foster situation isn’t working out, you’re not stuck. Shelters and rescues will take the pet back, if they have space and, no matter what, will help find another foster home.
  • Fosters are needed both for long-term and short-term situations, sometimes as short as a weekend!
