Mexia's Animal Protection Shelter is in charge of maintaining the City's Animal Shelter, as well as handling the ongoing and day to day care of all captured animals, including those dumped or no longer wanted, the abandoned, wandering strays, those scared, lost, and trying to find their way home, and the many heart-wrenching rescues. Our Animal Protection Officer responds to and answers calls from citizens, handles on-site violations, and removes carcasses from our roadways.
