RUFFIAN FOUNDATION's Adoption Process

1. Submit Application

2. Approve Application

3. Home Check

Adoptable cats, unless otherwise expressly indicated, are placed only into homes as an indoors-only cat(s). Rescue partners place adoptable cats into homes of approved adopters. If home is being rented, please be sure to verify pet policy with landlord or rental agency/community before applying for adoption. If you do not have animals, please contact a veterinarian to establish a relationship with a vet where cat medical records can be sent and kept current. Preparing for the eventuality of a vet visit is a main step needed when welcoming a kitty into its new home.

RESOUCES FOR FOUND STRAY ANIMALS
If you have found a stray animal, take the pet to a vet to be scanned for a microchip. Most clinics will do this free of charge. Notify your local shelter so that you can determine if someone is looking for a lost
animal with that description.

Helpful information when wanting to help a pet (whether a found stray or if facing owner surrender) includes: • Your name/phone number/location
• Photos of the animal- - please make sure they show the entire body and face
• Description of the animal: type, sex, if sterilized (if you can tell), approximate weight and age
(baby/adult/senior), temperament (social, friendly with people, can you touch and move
around, etc.), temperament with other animals if known
• When / where found
• Approximately how long you have had in your care

As you prepare to seek assistance in owner surrendering a pet, here is helpful information to be ready to provide:
• Your name/phone number/location
• Reason for surrender
• How long you have had the animal
• Photos of the animal- - please make sure they show the entire body and face
• Description of the animal: type, sex, if sterilized, approximate weight, temperament (social,
friendly with people, can you touch and move around, etc.), temperament with other animals if
known
• Status of most recent vetting- is animal current on vaccines, kept on monthly flea and
heartworm prevention.
• Cats only- has the animal been tested for FIV and Leukemia
