Cats Great & Small's adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Once we receive your application we will reach out to you to set up an interview to get to know you better. We require two references.

2.

Interview

The interview can be by phone or in person. It gives us a chance to get to know you better and so we can tell you all about the kitty!

3.

Meet the Pet

We want to make sure you and your kitty have a chance to meet in person before you spend the rest of your life with them.

4.

Approve Application

If your references check out we may require a site visit depending upon the situation.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

Pay Fee

We charge a $125 adoption fee for all kittens and cats. This fee pays for the medical care the animal received prior to their adoption.

7.

Take the Pet Home

If for any reason things don't work out we ask that you contact us and we will set up a time to pick up the kitty.

Additional adoption info

Young kittens must be adopted in pairs unless there is a cat, kitten, cat friendly dog, or a bunny in home.

Cats Great & Small is a TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) organization working in the Bensonhurst, Brooklyn area. In many of our projects working with Community Cats we run into kittens who are young enough to be socialized and adopted into forever homes. Adopting from Cats Great & Small not only gives a kitten the love and care they need, it also supports getting their parents fixed and vaccinated so future kittens don't have to grow up on the street.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
