Pet Assistance League of Northern California

PAL’s mission is to celebrate the human-animal bond. Toward that goal, we support organizations and individuals who strive to maintain and strengthen that bond. Recent projects include support of Sheltered, an art benefit for animal at risk at Davis Arts Center and funding through the Yolo County SPCA for a low-income vaccination clinic at Davis Community Church.

PAL Northern California Adoption Process

Thank you for making the commitment to adopt an animal and give him or her a loving, permanent home.

PAL is a foster-home based animal rescue organization, and does not have a shelter facility for you to visit.

By housing the animals in people’s homes, PAL is able to ascertain their individual personalities, needs and behaviors. This helps us to match the right companion animal with the right adoptive home.

If you are interested in meeting one of our adoptable dogs please send in an application by email (palofnorcal@gmail.com).

Interviews for our adoptable dogs are conducted by a volunteer adoption counselor by appointment after review of the applications for the dog. Appointments are not made on a first-come, first serve basis. Our focus is making the best match between our adoptable animals and the prospective adopters and not simply completing an adoption. If we feel the dog you are applying for is the best match for your family one of our adoption coordinators will contact you to set up a meeting.

Please do not be concerned if we don’t contact you. We are a volunteer-based organization and we are only able to call back the people we feel the dog would be a good match for.

Once you are contacted and have met the dog, one of our volunteer adoption counselors will interview you. All the adults in the household must be present for adoption interviews. Once you have interviewed with an adoption counselor we will make a decision if the dog is the best match for your family. You may not be able to take the dog home the day of your interview, depending on if other applicants are being interviewed, or if the dog has any other issues that need to be addressed prior to adoption.

A spay/neuter deposit of $100 will be charged at the time of adoption on all unaltered pets. Said deposit is fully refundable and will be refunded when we are provided with verification that the animal has been spayed or neutered.

Please remember that a pet is a family member and therefore, all members of the family need to be in agreement about when to adopt a pet and which pet to adopt.
