Pawsitive Change Foundation's Adoption Process

1. Submit Application

Once you see a pet that you're interested in, submit an application via the adoption application link.
https://forms.gle/YRSbFYQr1EtrmQwa7

2. Interview

Once your application is received, it will be reviewed. This consists of a brief phone conversation, so please include your phone number.

3. Meet the Pet

If both the application and phone interview go well, a meet and greet is scheduled with existing dogs and all family members present.

4. Home Check

If all parties choose to move forward, organization will deliver pet to the new home for the best optimal transition for the dog.

5. Sign Adoption Contract

An adoption contract is reviewed and signed by all parties.

6. Pay Fee

Adoption fee is exchanged. Fee includes: training, vaccinations, microchip and spay/neuter procedure.

Our adoption process requires an adoption application, a phone screening, meet and greet with animal, a home check and an Adoption Contract and fee.

ADOPTION FEES:
All of our dogs will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to being adopted; puppies require a spay/neuter deposit until procedure is completed. Our adoption fees are considered to be donations. All donations from adoption go right back into our rescue account, allowing us to continue to help dogs in need. At the bare minimum, the cost to properly vet a dog is $100-250. But some of the dogs we take on are medical or behavioral cases, which can cost several thousand dollars.

Submitting an application does not imply that you are approved for adoption. Adoption fees include all vaccinations, lifetime registered microchip via Found Animals, and the spay/neuter procedure. Adult dogs have also received, at minimum, a 3 week board and train program for foundational obedience and off leash reliability. This is valued at $3500 and you will have lifetime support for this animal. Available puppies have gone through a puppy bootcamp training program valued at $1,800. This is why our adoption fees are higher than average as we believe in setting each dog and adoptive family up for success with a strong foundation of training and reliability.

About Pawsitive Change Foundation

Pawsitive Change Foundation is an all volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to helping animals in our surrounding community. We rescue a variety of animals, and actively search for their forever homes. This is provided we have a foster home available. We take in dogs from local shelters, strays and owner surrenders. Our mission is to educate, empower and support dog owners/adopters, shelters and rescues about the rescue community, process and the power behind choosing and deciding to commit to your dog rather than surrender it to a rescue or shelter. Dogs that come through our organization are fully trained before being adopted out.

Pawsitive Change is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, our tax ID # is: 83-4231556 . Your donations are fully tax deductible and fund our operations and help pay our vet expenses.

Each dog that comes to us has been updated on shots, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Many of our dogs have also been treated for various medical conditions including mange, heart worms, broken bones, neurological issues, etc. One of our dogs can take anywhere from one month to one year to get ready for adoption and the cost for the dogs we take on can range from $150 to several thousand dollars. We take on dogs from shelters that are set to be euthanized for various reasons, including simply that they've been there too long, or they have a medical condition that precludes them from adoption to the public, making them "rescue only." This means only a rescue can pull them from the shelter, but also leaves us to be responsible for any costs for things that the dog requires. Dogs that come through our program are fully trained with a minimum of a 3 week board and train at the cost of $3,500, however our adoption fees remain low and tax deductible.

We also take on strays and incur the cost of having them vaccinated, spayed/neutered, trained and microchipped. We take on owner surrenders, dogs who owners can no longer provide care. However, this is after thorough evaluation and consultation with owners in efforts for them to keep their dog in the home. We insure a safe house for all of the dogs that we take on and provide all needed supplies for the foster homes that care for them until they are to be adopted. We also insure that they never end up in a shelter.
