C.A.R.E. group of Ohio, Inc. (companion animal rescue effort)'s Adoption Process

1. Interview

2. Submit Application

We send our application. You fill it out and we approve

3. Home Check

We like to bring animal to you but sometimes we can just do a meet n greet somewhere we both agree on.

4. Take the Pet Home

We set up visit and trial. When all approved, adoption is made final and contract is signed; adoption fee paid. We keep up with our pets

5. Pay Fee

We suggest training and trouble shooting. We like you to keep us informed of good/bad. Animal comes back to us if cannot keep.

We take applications, they have to be approved. We interview applicants by the phone, e-mail, or in person. We are understanding of individual circumstances. We have an adoption agreement/contract,(legally binding). All animals are altered either prior to adoption, or contracted for following adoption. An adoption donation is requested in varying amounts which barely covers our expenses for shots, vet work, spay/neuter, etc... Our agreement specifies a return policy in the event of unsuccessful follow through on responsible efforts in training, behavior problems, working with behaviorists and trainers.

About C.A.R.E. group of Ohio, Inc. (companion animal rescue effort)

12/20/2012::::The chairman of our Board of Directors has taken responsibilities of C.A.R.E. group and is overseeing any and all adoptions. Contact can still be made for applications and information to same email address to help get the process moving forward until further updates. We diligently and stringently have screening, home and reference checks to properly and safely place animals with their forever families.
An FYI update to those faithful and wonderful people who know and have known us and who have supported us throughout our two decades of rescuing and caring for all of the animals and to those who have adopted our animals: we have recently and in the past been subjected to having to deal with city ordinances and problems with court battles NEVER because we were neglectful or abusive to the animals but because the daily dropping off of animals at our home or shelter put us in situations where instead of saying "NO" to helping an animal; we took the chance for it and went over our "limit" of animals in our home or fosters and this resulted in "breaking the ordinances." We are currently resolving this last incident and will help troubleshoot and cross-post animals in need. Please call and ask any questions that you may have from the LIES and RUMORS that tend to spread by ugly, vindictive, hateful people. We are confident and remain strong in our faith in God that this will all resolve. Thank you all for your continued support, prayers and love! Remember, this is NOT for us but for the precious animals that depend on TRUTHFUL and KNOWLEDGEABLE CARING humans!

I am a semi-retired R.N. have been rescuing animals most of my life, as I suppose most rescuers have. We have raised nine children, the last one starting college this month. I volunteered with area groups, spanned off on my own and started a group with a friend of mine, plus my husband. We became a non-profit incorporated group in 2004. We are fairly small and all volunteer. We do have three foster homes, are TOO full and do need fosters! We have rescued both cats and dogs and pull from our area pounds. We also take in owner surrenders. We totally "vet" the animals and alter them. Our application and adoption process consists of an application which must be approved, then home checks, then adoption. I will interview a prospective family. We do a trial basis, only if we are pretty confident of the family. We do trouble shooting for behavior problems and strongly advise trainers/behaviorists. We also have a couple of specific ones we work with to re-home an animal. We keep in contact with adoptive family and check periodically. We have a stringent return policy which requires animals must come back to us if the adoption is unsuccessful. We will show our animals at area stores that cater to animals. We have also shown in area parks. We help transport. We've adopted out as far as Arizona. We do rescue because of our love and compassion for the animals, and they need us. Our motto comes directly from The Holy Bible in Genesis 1:28 "God has given us dominion over the animals." This means we have the responsibility to take care of them. This is the toughest job I have ever done, but the look and kisses from a newly rescued animal when they are finally HOME, is priceless! We have taken in special needs animals, including epileptic, diabetic, hyperactive, injured, etc... We accept ANY and ALL donations, and are in great need of them, especially money for medications and vet bills. Volunteer fosters are DESPERATELY needed. In addition, we promote an educational agenda among area groups and schools regarding responsible pet ownership, overpopulation, and spay/neuter programs.
