Areas Humane Educational Society of Chattanooga Serves

There is no proximity restriction on adopters, although applications must be submitted and an appointment must be scheduled for all shelter visits.

Humane Educational Society of Chattanooga's Adoption Process

1. Submit Application

Find a new friend online and fill out the application online.

2. Interview

Once submitted, we will call you to go over your application.

3. Approve Application

We will approve or deny your application over the phone and schedule an appointment that works for your family.

4. Meet the Pet

Come to the shelter to meet your new friend! If adopting a dog, we require a meet and greet with any current dogs you may have.

5. Sign Adoption Contract

A contract is required to be signed prior to taking the pet home.

6. Pay Fee

Dogs - $50
Cats/Kittens - $50
Senior Pets - $35
Seniors Adopting Seniors - $25
Puppies - $100

7. Take the Pet Home

Enjoy your new life together!

An appointment is required for all shelter visits.
