About Country Paws Rescue, Inc.

Country Paws Rescue has been rescuing and rehoming dogs and cats since 1999. We are located in a rural area (50 miles west of Houston, TX) where spaying and neutering is not a primary concern to most pet owners. Dumping and abandoning pets is almost the normal.

Country Paws Rescue is a 501 (c) 3, non-profit, no-kill facility. We are an all-breed rescue - rescuing mixed breed and pure breed dogs and cats.

Our primary focus is on abandoned, abused, injured, lost and euthansia bound pets. We rehabilitate and rehome dogs and cats into responsible, loving homes.

Our facility is open concept - meaning that our animals are not caged. Our dogs have a pond to swim in as well as woods and land to run on. They are happy here but would be much happier in YOUR home and lap!

* PLEASE!! Donations are ALWAYS needed to care for the many animals currently residing at our facility. Our vet bills are high as we choose to treat injuries and illnesses rather than euthanize, as the first option.

All pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, wormed and heartworm tested (dogs) Felv/FIV tested (cats).

Due to our location, VOLUNTEERS are hard to come by. You can never have enough of those hardworking people who don't work for money but simply the desire to help. The more help we have, the more lives we can save.

Our staff and volunteers work very hard to help all the 4 legged kids out here and find the best, most responsible homes we can.

We also desperately need FOSTER HOMES!! Fostering a dog or cat is one of the best ways you can help. Many times we have animals needing socialization, housebreaking, adaptability testing, confidence building, etc.

The chances of a pet being adopted once they are in a foster home increases greatly. They are getting exposure to a loving home environment and more is being learned about their individual personality and behavior. They are also able to go to adoption events much more often than animals living at the shelter.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Hempstead, TX.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
