We require an adoption contract and adoption fee, also, a signed agreement for mandatory sterilization to be completed within 30 days of the adoption date. Rescue groups and foster homes are welcome and needed, please e-mail or call to see how you can help make a difference, even if you can't adopt. An already sterilized animal may be adopted to anywhere in VA, greatly increasing their chances of finding a home. We are the animal control impound for the New Kent County Sheriff's Office Animal Control.

Licensing: Returning pets to their owners is very important to us. We strive to get every dog licensed in New Kent Co. Licensing your dog will help protect him/her from becoming just another statistic. Annual license fee is only $6.00, if you have not purchased your 2011 County License, please do so right away, it's the law!!! Please help us increase the number of pets returned to their owners; keep the County License fastened on your dog's collar. If you lose your tag a replacement is available from the Treasurer's Office for the cost of $1.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
