Humane Society of Young County's Adoption Process

1. Submit Application

There is a convenient link on our webpage under adoptions.

2. Approve Application

Our staff will review your application and see if the pet your interested in seems like a good fit for your home.

3. Meet the Pet

Staff will contact you to set up a time for a meet and greet.

4. Sign Adoption Contract

If the pet is already altered and fully vetted your new bests friend will be ready to go home once the adoption fee is paid.

5. Pay Fee

Once this is done and the pet is fully vetted it is time to go home! We will schedule an appt for spay/neuter (if not already done).

6. Take the Pet Home

Once all the vetting is completed your new best friend is ready to go home and be a part of your family!

Our animals are available for adoption during our business hours. We do not have the room to put animals on HOLD. Adoptions are not first come first serve, but the best application for each individual pet. If two applications are equally qualified for the same pet, the first received application will be approved.

The adoption fee for dogs is $85.00 and $60.00 for cats. Includes one round of vaccinations, rabies, deworming, micro-chipping, spay/neuter, and dogs will be heartwormed if over 6 months of age.

You need to be 18 years old to adopt a pet. We do check references before adopting a pet to a new owner and have the option to do home checks. This is to insure that the animal is going to a safe and forever home.

If you are interested in one of our pets, please e-mail us hsyc@nsb-graham.com to request an application. We can e-mail, fax or mail an application to you. Or fill out our online application at www.humanesociety-yc.org You can also fax your application in (940) 521-0792. All applications must be completed fully.
