Arlington Animal Services adoption program is open to anyone wishing to adopt an animal. The adoption process is simple. You may visit the shelter or view our animals at www.arlingtontx.gov/animals. All pets are given initial vaccinations, appropriate testing (Heartworm or Cat Combo)and will be altered before releasing to their new home. Arlington residents are required to purchase a City license.

Arlington Animal Services is the municipal animal shelter for Arlington Tx. Our typical animal intake is estimated at 12,000 per year. Arlington Animal Services is a division of the Community Services Department whose goals are to encourage responsible pet ownership by providing an animal registration program, field enforcement services, educational services, and life safety services. The humane care and successful placement of stray and unwanted animals, and the eradication of rabies from the community's animal population are critical to successful operations.

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
