The Humane Society for Inland Mendocino County is a non-profit adoption center, dedicated to rescuing and placing abandoned and displaced animals into loving, forever homes.
During their stay at our shelter, all animals are socialized to help them be happier and provide valuable information to potential adopters about them while they await a new, permanent home.
All of our animals are, spayed/neutered vaccinated as age appropriate and on flea and tick control prior to adoption! Dogs are heart worm tested as age appropriate and are placed on heart worm prevention.
HSIMC is a 501 C 3 non profit . We receive no government funding. We are not affiliated with any other county or national chapter of the Humane Society, nor do we receive any funding from those organizations. We operate solely on donations received from our community, individuals, businesses and our 5 annual fundraisers.
The Humane Society is located on 10 beautiful acres in Redwood Valley. We encourage visitors and volunteers! Always something to do here, hang out in our big 4 room Cattery, walk a dog- or two! Foster, adopt ! Get involved with our rescue in any way you can! Come visit us and our furry friends!

Additional adoption info
Those interested in adopting one of our animals are required to fill out an adoption application and go through a screening process with one of our staff members.
Once you have found a pet we all agree is a good match, you can take the animal on a “Home Visit.” This is designed to be a no-pressure trial period, and typically lasts seven to ten days. If at the end of the visit you feel the situation is not working out, we encourage you to bring the animal back. If the visit was a success, we can complete the formal adoption process.
Our shelter’s primary goals in placing an animal are to ensure that 1) the animal be in its new home for the rest of its life, and 2) the animal's life will be filled with love, attention and proper care.
